  1. 31. Development of Novel Models for Studying Osteoclasts

    Författare :Christian Thudium; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Osteoclast; Osteopetrosis; Osteoporosis; Bone; Hematopoiesis; Gene Therapy; Mouse Models; oc oc; RANK KO;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on developing and characterizing novel models for studying osteoclasts with an emphasis on how mutations abolishing osteoclastic acidification affect osteoclast signaling and bone remodeling, as well as how to treat patients bearing these rare mutations. Bone remodeling is under normal circumstances a tightly balanced process where resorption of bone by osteoclasts is followed by adequate amounts of bone formation by osteoblasts. LÄS MER

  2. 32. On magnesium-modified titanium coatings and magnesium alloys for oral orthopaedic applications : in vitro investigation

    Författare :Francesca Cecchinato; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biocompatible material; Bone substitutes; Biomaterial; Dentala implantat;

    Sammanfattning : In dentistry and orthopaedic surgery, research to find and developimproved biomaterials is progressing rapidly.Of specific interest is to accelerate bone formation around theimplant surface, which could improve the reliability of the implanteven in patients with compromised situations. 3. 33. Thyroid hormone receptors and the regulation of bone physiology

    Författare :Jenny Kindblom; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the studies in this thesis was to investigate the role of thyroid hormone receptors in bone physiology. Thyroid hormone signals through its receptors, the TRs, and has profound effects on bone development and metabolism, as demonstrated in hypo- and hyperthyroidism. LÄS MER

  4. 34. On the importance of nanometer structures for implant incorporation in bone tissue

    Författare :Lory Melin Svanborg; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction Replacing lost teeth with dental implants is today a reliable treatment method associated with good long-term clinical results. Different surface modifications alter the surface topography at micro- and nanometer level of resolution as well as chemical properties, which have shown to be of importance for osseointegration. 5. 35. Tissue responses to bone-implant biomaterials

    Författare :Haihong Liao; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Gene expression; interface; mineralization; nacre; osteoblast; osteoclast; titanium;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of the studies was to understand the mechanisms which underlie the interaction between tissue and bone-implant biomaterials. Tissue and naturally occurring aragonite nacre interaction was systematically studied for the first time by combined histological examination, cellular and molecular biological approaches. LÄS MER
