  1. 11. Measures and method characteristics for early evaluation of safe operation in nuclear power plant control room systems

    Författare :Eva Simonsen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; control room; early development; human factors engineering; safe operation; resilience engineering; evaluation methods; nuclear power;

    Sammanfattning : Safe operation is a central objective for high-risk industries such as nuclear power plants. Operation of the plant is managed from a central control room, which is a complex socio-technical system of physical and organisational structures such as operators, procedures, routines, and operator interfaces. 2. 12. Seismic high-frequency content loads on structures and components within nuclear facilities

    Författare :Cecilia Rydell; Anders Ansell; Mario Plos; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nuclear power plant; Earthquake; Seismic high frequencies; Fluid-structure interaction; Piping; Concrete; Pool;

    Sammanfattning : Sweden is generally considered to be a low seismicity area, but for structures within nuclear power facilities, the safety level demand with respect to seismic events are high and thus, these structures are required to be earthquake-resistant. The seismic hazard is here primarily considered to be associated with near-field earthquakes. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Potential of Organosolv Lignin Nanoparticles as a Sustainable Flotation Reagent : Towards a Low-Carbon Footprint Mining Industry

    Författare :Katerina Hruzova; Ulrika Rova; Saija Luukkanen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Organosolv lignin particles; Nanoparticles; Flotation reagent; Copper recovery; Biokemisk processteknik; Biochemical Process Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The green transition is driving a steep increase in the demand for minerals, which has put the focus on more responsible and sustainable mining practices as there is a growing pressure on mining operations to minimise their environmental footprint, mitigate risks in neighbouring communities, and decrease the consumption of natural resources. In 2022, mineral froth flotation was used to recover 18 million tonnes of copper from copper ore, accounting for 80% of total copper mine output. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Atomic Scale Degradation of Zirconium Alloys for Nuclear Applications

    Författare :Gustav Sundell; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Irradiation damage; Hydrogen microanalysis; Hydrogen pick-up; Zirconium alloys; Atom probe tomography; Corrosion;

    Sammanfattning : Due to their low thermal neutron capture cross-section, zirconium alloys are widely used in the nuclear industry as fuel cladding and for structural components. The lifetime of the fuel assemblies in the reactors is primarily dictated by the ability of the cladding to withstand oxidation and hydrogen pick-up from the coolant water and radiation damage induced by the neutron flux. 5. 15. Tellurium Behavior and Management in the Liquid Phases in the Containment During a Severe Nuclear Reactor Accident

    Författare :Anna-Elina Pasi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; severe nuclear reactor accident; fission product; source term; tellurium;

    Sammanfattning : No industry is immune to accidents; however, the consequences and the probability are the parameters to consider when assessing the risks. When considering nuclear power, two of the highest-level accidents have occurred during the course of the commercial use of nuclear energy. LÄS MER
