  1. 11. Rational design of novel cell-penetrating peptides

    Författare :Staffan Lindberg; Ülo Langel; Lena Mäler; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Sammanfattning : Although cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) have been an active field of research for over 20 years there are still properties such as efficiency and stability that must be improved for CPPs to reach their full potential as delivery vectors.In this thesis two peptides were designed for non-covalent oligonucleotide delivery, in an attempt to overcome two major issues hampering wider use of CPPs, namely low stability and endosomal entrapment. 2. 12. Cell-penetrating peptides targeting glioblastomas for nucleic acid delivery in the blood-brain barrier model

    Författare :Artita Srimanee; Ülo Langel; Ines Neundorf; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Blood-brain barrier model; nucleic acid delivery; glioblastomas; cell-penetrating peptides; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma multiforme is the most aggressive form of malignant brain tumor with poor prognosis. The efficacy of brain cancer treatment by chemotherapeutics is limited by the blood-brain barrier (BBB) which allows less than 2% of the small molecules and blocks almost all the macromolecules to transport into the brain. 3. 13. Acylated cell-penetrating peptides for nucleic acid delivery

    Författare :Tönis Lehto; Ülo Langel; Eric Johnston; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cell-penetrating peptides; nucleic acid delivery; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Sammanfattning : In recent decades many new methods have been developed to cure or treat genetical disorders such as cancer, viral infections or inheritable diseases. The problem is that the nucleic acids and their synthetic analogs, oligonucleotides, are not able to cross the cell membrane due to their physicochemical properties like high negative charge and size. 4. 14. In-silico design of peptide-based transfection systems, in-vitro validation, and up-take pathways investigation

    Författare :Moataz Dowaidar; Ülo Langel; IngMarie Nilsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell-penetrating peptides; QSAR; PepFect; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Sammanfattning : Cell-penetrating peptide-based transfection systems (PBTS) are a promising group of drug delivery vectors. Cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) are short cationic peptides that are able of transporting cell non-permeant cargos into different cell types. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Cell-penetrating peptide based nanocomplexes for oligonucleotide delivery

    Författare :Jakob Regberg; Ülo Langel; Arwyn Tomos Jones; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell-penetrating peptides; oligonucleotides; gene therapy; drug delivery; scavenger receptors; blood-brain barrier; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Sammanfattning : Oligonucleotide-based drugs hold great promise for the treatment of many types of diseases, ranging from genetic disorders to viral infections and cancer. The problem is that efficient delivery across the cell membrane is required for oligonucleotides to have their desired effect. Cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) provide a solution to this problem.
