  1. 1. The role of reactive oxygen species in traumatic brain injury : Experimental studies in the rat

    Författare :Niklas Marklund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Apoptosis; CBF; controlled cortical contusion injury; 3; 4-dihydroxybenzoate; fluid percussion injury; glucose; 4-hydroxybenzoate; microdialysis; Morris Water Maze; neuroprotection; nitrones; PBN; rat; reactive oxygen species ROS ; salicylate; S-PBN; TBI; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Neurosurgery; neurokirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of mortality and disability. As common sequelae in survivors of TBI are disabling functional, emotional and cognitive disturbances, improved treatment of TBI patients is urgently needed. At present, no neuroprotective pharmacological treatment exists. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Asymmetric 1,3-Dipolar Cycloaddition Reactions of Azomethine Ylides, Thiocarbonyl Ylides, and Nitrones

    Författare :Staffan Karlsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the development of methods for thepreparation of chiral non-racemic substituted pyrrolidines,tetrahydrothiophenes, and isoxazolidines. This has beenaccomplished by using asymmetric intermolecular 1,3-dipolarcycloaddition reactions of azomethine ylides, thiocarbonylylides and nitrones, respectively, with variousdipolarophiles. 3. 3. Development of new Catalytic Methods for the Selective Synthesis of Heterocycles

    Författare :Stalin Reddy Pathi Pati; Nicklas Selander; Masaharu Nakamura; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; catalysis; indium; heterocycles; Lewis acid; multicomponent reactions; furans; alkynes; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : In the field of organic chemistry, the development of new catalytic methods for the synthesis of complex molecules from simple precursors is a top priority. The main focus of this thesis concerns the diastereoselective synthesis of heterocyclic compounds using main group elements as Lewis acid catalysts. LÄS MER
