21. Carbon nanofiller reinforced UHMWPE for orthopaedic applications : optimization of manufacturing parameters
Sammanfattning : Polymer composites research designed for orthopaedic applications are commonly focused on Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) reinforced by a variety of different nanoparticles. However, the high melt viscosity of UHMWPE renders conventional melt mixing techniques impossible for composite manufacturing. LÄS MER
22. Electronic Structure and Transport Properties of Carbon Based Materials
Sammanfattning : In the past decade the interest in molecular electronic devices has escalated. The synthesis of molecular crystals has improved, providing single crystals or thin films with mobility comparable with or even higher than amorphous silicon. Their mechanical flexibility admits new types of applications and usage of electronic devices. LÄS MER
23. 2nd and 3rd generation electrodes for biosensors and biofuel cells
Sammanfattning : The catalytic and electrochemical properties of tryptophan repressor-binding protein (WrbA), pyranose dehydrogenase (PDH), cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) and glucose dehydrogenase (GDH) on carbon electrodes were investigated using cyclic voltammetry and flow injection amperometry to construct biosensors and biofuel cell (BFC) anodes. WrbA has a catalytic FMN-containing domain whereas both PDH and GDH have a catalytic FAD-containing domains. LÄS MER
24. Investigation of Carbon Reinforced UHMWPE Nanocomposites for use in Orthopaedics
Sammanfattning : Over the lifetime of a person, the function of the natural hip joint can be altered due to trauma or disease and an artificial hip replacement may eventually be required. Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is considered the gold standard material for the acetabular cup in hip arthroplasties. LÄS MER
25. Modeling nanofiber transport and deposition in human airways
Sammanfattning : An understanding of the complex motion of fibrous particles is important in a wide range of areas, including inhalation toxicology, targeted drug delivery, composites manufacturing, paper making, and food processing. While the applications are diverse, the governing equations for the fiber motion may be shared. LÄS MER
