26. Stability analysis and control design of spatially developing flows
Sammanfattning : Methods in hydrodynamic stability, systems and control theory are applied to spatially developing flows, where the flow is not required to vary slowly in the streamwise direction. A substantial part of the thesis presents a theoretical framework for the stability analysis, input-output behavior, model reduction and control design for fluid dynamical systems using examples on the linear complex Ginzburg-Landau equation. 27. Adaptive and model-based control in laminar boundary-layer flows
Sammanfattning : In boundary-layer flows it is possible to reduce the friction drag by breaking the path from laminar to turbulent state. In low turbulence environments, the laminar-to-turbulent transition is dominated by local flow instabilities – Tollmien-Schlichting (TS) waves – that exponentially grows while being con- vected by the flow and, eventually, lead to transition. 29. Modelling and simulation of turbulence subject to system rotation
Sammanfattning : Simulation and modelling of turbulent flows under influence of streamline curvature and system rotation have been considered. Direct numerical simulations have been performed for fully developed rotating turbulent channel flow using a pseudo-spectral code. The rotation numbers considered are larger than unity. LÄS MER
