  1. 36. Infrared spectroscopy as a tool to reconstruct past lake-ecosystem changes : Method development and application in lake-sediment studies

    Författare :Carsten Meyer-Jacob; Richard Bindler; Hendrik Vogel; Jan Karlsson; John F. Boyle; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy; visible-near infrared spectroscopy; PLS regression; biogenic silica; climate change; carbon cycling; lake-water quality; geochemistry; paleolimnology; Holocene; Lake El’gygytgyn; Torneträsk;

    Sammanfattning : Natural archives such as lake sediments allow us to assess contemporary ecosystem responses to climate and environmental changes in a long-term context beyond the few decades to at most few centuries covered by monitoring or historical data. To achieve a comprehensive view of the changes preserved in sediment records, multi-proxy studies – ideally in high resolution – are necessary. LÄS MER

  2. 37. Testing the boundaries for expectation effects in health and disease

    Författare :Moa Pontén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Expectations affect our physiology and clinical outcomes, however the boundaries for this modulation are poorly understood. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate minimal requirements to elicit expectation effects on health-related outcomes, using experiments and an independent patient data meta-analysis. LÄS MER

  3. 38. Intrinsic and extrinsic mechanisms for B-cell lymphoma development and progression studied by global gene expression profiling

    Författare :Gustav Arvidsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare hematopoietic malignancy characterized by frequent relapses and poor survival, partly due to minimal residual disease, whereby a subset of malignant cells, harbored in protective niches, survive treatment. In vitro and ex vivo experiments have shown that MCL cells can be rescued from apoptosis through interactions with non- malignant cells such as stromal cells. LÄS MER

  4. 39. Immunotherapy with the anti-EpCAM monoclonal antibody and cytokines in patients with colorectal cancer : a clinical and experimental study

    Författare :Maria Gustafsson Liljefors; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Colorectal carcinoma; monoclonal antibodies; GM-CSF; pharmacokinetics; prognosis; bone marrow micrometastases; cytokeratin-positive cells; Colorectal carcinoma;

    Sammanfattning : The tumor-associated antigen EpCAM (epithelial cell-adhesion molecule) (C017-1A) is over expressed by various human carcinomas, including colorectal carcinoma (CRC). This antigen can be used as a target structure for specific immunotherapy with vaccines and monoclonal antibodies (MAb). LÄS MER

  5. 40. Garbage collection for reactive real-time systems

    Författare :Martin Kero; Roger Henriksson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dependable Communication and Computation Systems; Kommunikations- och beräkningssystem;

    Sammanfattning : Predictable use of resources, such as processor time and memory, is a desirable property for virtually any computer system. In real-time computing, static predictability is of particular concern. LÄS MER
