  1. 6. Profilin : From the Cell Edge into the Nucleus

    Författare :Sara Sadi; Roger Karlsson; Maria Vartiainen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; profilin; actin; microfilament system; nucleus; SRF; MRTF; MAL; transcription; microtubules; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Internal and external signaling dependent changes in cell behavior are directly linked to force-generating remodeling of the actin microfilament system which is juxtaposed to the inside of the plasma membrane. This dynamic filament system is involved in many processes in the cytoplasm and the nucleus of eukaryotic cells. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Profilins : The Control of the Microfilament and Microtubule systems

    Författare :Michaela Nejedla; Roger Karlsson; Klemens Rottner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Profilin; Actin; Microtubules; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The microtubule and actin filament systems are important for many cellular processes such as intracellular organelle trafficking, cell adhesion, migration and mitosis. The two filament systems are closely connected, operate in parallel and are essential for proper cell function. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Cell motility : the organization of the microfilament system in cultured cells with special emphasis on the cortical weave of actin filaments

    Författare :Roger Karlsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The microfilament system formed by actin, myosin and associated proteins constitutes the molecular basis for many of the motile phenomena which eukaryotic cells express. The organization of this system varies considerably from cell type to cell type, and is characterized on one hand by strictly ordered, more or less flexible arrangements of actin filaments and on the other by actin present in primarily a nonfilamentous form ready to polymerize in response to certain stimuli. 4. 9. Tropomyosin in Normal and Malignant Cells and the Action of Picropodophyllin on the Microfilament and Microtubule Systems

    Författare :Li-Sophie Zhao Rathje; Uno Lindberg; Roger Karlsson; J. Victor Small; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tropomyosin; Actin; Picropodophyllin; Tubulin; Cell motility; Cancer; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; cellbiologi; Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Cell motility is a fundamental process, enabling cells to migrate, for instance during embryogenesis, tissue repair and defense. Force is generated by two protein systems, which also participate in cell proliferation, control macromolecular and organelle distribution and determine the fine structure of the cell interior. 5. 10. Cell motility : the dynamics of the cortical weave of microfilaments and its relation to microtubules and coated vesicles in fibroblasts and glial cells

    Författare :Anna-Stina Höglund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Actin and myosin, the major components of the microfilament system are found in most - if not all - eukaryotic cells. In muscle they form the basis of the contractile apparatus which generates the rapid, strong and unidirectional movements that characterizes muscle activity. LÄS MER
