  1. 6. Longterm performance of polyolefins in different environments including chlorinated water: antioxidant consumption and migration and polymer degradation

    Författare :Marie Lundbäck; Ulf Gedde; Thomas Hjertberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; polyethylene; polybutylene; HDPE; LLDPE; phenolic antioxidants; oxidation induction time OIT ; migration; chlorinated water; pressure testing; lifetime; chemical consumption.; Kemiteknik; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The long-term performance of stabilized polyolefins in different environments was studied with focus on antioxidant consumption and migration. Plaques of linear polyethylene (LPE) and branched polyethylene (BPE) were stabilized with Santonox® R (4,4'-Thiobis(6-tert-butyl-3-methylphenol)), Irganox® 1081 (2,2’-Thiobis(4-methyl-6-tertbutylphenol)), or Lowinox® 22M46 (2,2’-Methylenebis(6-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol)). 2. 7. Studies on biological treatment and biomarkers in systemic lupus erythematosus : longterm effects, risk factors and predictors of response

    Författare :Francesca Faustini; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease in which several immune mechanisms are involved in a complex interplay. B-cells are considered to be a major player in the pathophysiology of the disease, and the advent of B-cell depletion therapy (BCDT), has brought much promise. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Studies on children’s psychological adjustment to diabetes

    Författare :Barbro Lernmark; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :insulin-dependent diabetes; depression; adaptation; adjustment; prospective; longterm; metabolic control;

    Sammanfattning : Type I diabetes is a chronic disease that affects the daily life of the individual from diagnosis and for the rest of life. The patient is constantly reminded of the diabetes because of a daily, self-managed and demanding treatment. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Chronic intraoral pain - assessment of diagnostic methods and prognosis

    Författare :Maria Pigg; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neuropathic pain; Orofacial pain; Trigeminal pain; Clinical studies; Prognosis; Diagnostic methods; Quantitative sensory testing; QST; Chronic pain; Endodontics;

    Sammanfattning : The overall goal of this thesis was to broaden our knowledge of chronic intraoral pain. The research questions were:•What methods can be used to differentiate inflammatory, odontogenic tooth pain from pain that presents as toothache but is non-odontogenic in origin?•What is the prognosis of chronic tooth pain of non-odontogenic origin, and which factors affect the prognosis?Atypical odontalgia (AO) is a relatively rare but severe and chronic pain condition affecting the dentoalveolar region. 5. 10. Visuospatial inattention and processing speed : Predictors of long-term outcome and patterns of change after ischemic stroke

    Författare :Joel Gerafi; Hans Samuelsson; Tom Manly; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Visuospatial inattention; language impairment; long-term functional outcome; ischemic stroke; neglect; aphasia; lateralized inattention; processing speed; Consciousness and Cognitive Neuroscience; Kognitiv neurovetenskap och filosofi; visuospatial inattention; language impairment; long-term functional outcome; ischemic stroke; neglect; aphasia; lateralized inattention; processing speed;

    Sammanfattning : Impairments of visuospatial attention, language, and processing speed (PS) are common early after stroke and have been associated with unfavorable short-term functional outcomes but little is known about this relationship in the long-term. This thesis investigates 1) the potential importance of visuospatial inattention (VSI) and language impairments (LI) as predictors of functional outcomes 7 years after an ischemic stroke (studies I-II) and 2) presence of lateralized inattention 7 years after stroke and potential predictors of this phenomenon (study III).
