16. Low noise frequency combs and injection locking for broadly tunable laser sources and tomography
Sammanfattning : Lasers have revolutionized the world of physics by providing a highly coherent source of photons which may be used for a large variety of purposes. Here, we study the noise properties of frequency combs - a special class of frequency stabilized and mutually coherent multi-mode lasers, as well as the optical injection locking of comb tones as a means for low noise amplification and tone selection. 17. Some Aspects of Foamed Bitumen Technology
Sammanfattning : Although foamed bitumen has been widely applied in pavement construction some of its aspects are still not yet understood. In this study, some of these aspects including: effects of the foaming process on binder chemistry, characterization of foamed bitumen and development of a rational method to optimize foam characteristics, evaluation of aggregate particle coating within foamed bitumen treated materials, and development of a gyratory compaction procedure for laterite gravels treated with foamed bitumen were addressed. 18. High Power, Long Wavelength Semiconductor Disk Lasers for Continuous and Mode-Locked Operation
Sammanfattning : The semiconductor disk laser has recentlyemerged as an attractive alternative to bulky and power consuming gas and solid state lasers. It offers compact, powerful and efficient devices with W level output power and beam properties earlier not achieved with semiconductor lasers. LÄS MER
19. Low-Power Low-Jitter Clock Generation and Distribution
Sammanfattning : Today’s microprocessors with millions of transistors perform high-complexitycomputing at multi-gigahertz clock frequencies. Clock generation and clockdistribution are crucial tasks which determine the overall performance of amicroprocessor. LÄS MER
20. Compact solid-state lasers in the near-infrard and visible spectral range
Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is the exploration of new concepts for compact solid-state lasers in the visible and near-infrared spectral range using new components such as volume Bragg gratings for wavelength stabilisation and wavelength tuning. Also single-walled carbon nanotubes for mode-locking and Q-switching of lasers have been studied. LÄS MER
