   Sammanfattning : Pre-eclampsia is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) later in life. The ‘gold standard’ for estimating cardiovascular risk - ultrasound assessment of the common carotid artery intima-media thickness (CCA-IMT) - does not convincingly demonstrate this increased risk.    Sammanfattning : The present research programme was set up to investigate whether pertubations of the metabolism of postprandial triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TRLs) are related to premature atherosclerosis and to determine if treatment with a 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase inhibitor (atorvastatin) improves deranged alimentary lipaemia in postinfarction patients with combined hyperlipidaemia.    Sammanfattning : Hemostatic and fibrinolytic variables, inflammatory parameters, catecholamines and lipid parameters were studied at baseline, in a long-term prospective study of 809 patients with stable angina pectoris, and compared to results obtained in healthy control subjects (n=50). The prognostic implications of the various parameters at baseline were evaluated, as well as possible influences of drug treatment on these variables and their prognostic implications were studied.
