  1. 41. Data driven crop disease modeling

    Författare :Priyamvada Shankar; Marcus Liwicki; Foteini Liwicki; Lili Jiang; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Crop Disease Prediction; Precision Agriculture; Digital Farming; Artificial Intelligence; Machine learning; Maskininlärning; Machine Learning;

    Sammanfattning : The concept of precision farming deals with the creation and use of data from machinery and sensors on and off the field to optimize resources and sustainably intensify food production to keep up with increasing demand. However, in the face of a growing amount of data being collected, smarter data processing and analysis techniques are needed and have prompted the evaluation and incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques for multiple use cases right from seeding to harvesting. 2. 42. Evaluation of locally available feed resources for Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in Rwanda

    Författare :Leon Niyibizi; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Aquaculture was introduced in Rwanda in the 1940s as an extensive pond-based system but the sector has gained in popularity during the past two decades, resulting in greater numbers of fish ponds and a corresponding increase in demand for quality fish feeds for sustainable aquaculture production. The aim of this thesis was to identify, sample and evaluate the nutritive value of some locally available feed ingredients that could be used by fish farmers producing Nile tilapia. LÄS MER

  3. 43. Cyclic voles and Puumala hantavirus in a changing boreal landscape

    Författare :Magnus Magnusson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Land-use change is causing extinction of species globally, while also increasing the risk of disease exposure to humans through augmented interactions with wildlife, when humans live and work in manipulated ecosystems or when animals seek shelter/refuge in man-made infrastructure. Forestry is one such activity, which is continually altering forest structure worldwide, causing habitat loss for many specialized forest species. LÄS MER

  4. 44. Modelling trade-offs between forest bioenergy and biodiversity

    Författare :Xi Pang; Ulla Mörtberg; Karin Öhman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Globally, biodiversity is declining due to loss, fragmentation and degradation of habitat, which undermines ecosystem functioning and therefore threatens also the ability of ecosystems to supply ecosystem services. Moreover, there is a need for adapting to climate change as well as securing the supply of energy, which have led to a shift in energy consumption from fossil fuel to renewables, especially biomass, which in turn put increasing pressure on ecosystems and biodiversity. 5. 45. Forests, farmers and the state : environmentalism and resistance in northeastern Thailand

    Författare :Amare Tegbaru; Hans-Dieter Evers; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Social anthropology ethnography; Socialantrolopologi etnografi; Social Anthropology; socialantropologi;

    Sammanfattning : The Isan farmers in Ubonratchatani province of Northeast Thailand employ Buddhist as well as modernist environmental arguments to resist the spread of commercial eucalyptus plantations carried out by the state. Villagers affected by the consequences of commercial forestry have made a metaphorical link between eucalyptus, destructive exploitation and coercive power. LÄS MER
