1. Hydrological and sediment yield modelling in Lake Tana Basin, Blue Nile Ethiopia
Sammanfattning : Land and water resources degradation are the major problems on the Ethiopian highlands. Poor land use practices and improper management systems have played a significant role in causing high soil erosion rates, sediment transport and loss of agricultural nutrients. So far limited meas-ures have been taken to combat the problems. LÄS MER
2. Modelling Hydrological and Hydrodynamic Processes in Lake Tana Basin, Ethiopia
Sammanfattning : Lake Tana Basin is of significant importance to Ethiopia concerning water resources aspects and the ecological balance of the area. The growing high demands in utilizing the high potentials of water resource of the Lake to its maximal limit, pictures a disturbing future for the Lake. LÄS MER
3. Organic Phosphorus Compounds in Aquatic Sediments : Towards Molecular Identification with Mass Spectrometry
Sammanfattning : Phosphorus (P) regulates trophic status in most aquatic systems. However, only bioavailable P contributes to primary production. In most lakes and shallow seas, mineralisation of sediment P into its bioavailable form and its release to the water column is important for maintaining primary production. LÄS MER
4. Palaeoglaciology of the northeastern Tibetan Plateau
Sammanfattning : This study concerns the palaeoglaciation of the northeastern Tibetan Plateau, with emphasis on the Bayan Har Shan (Shan = Mountain) in the headwaters of Huang He (Yellow River). To reconstruct past glacier development multiple techniques, including remote sensing, field investigations, cosmogenic exposure dating, and numerical modelling have been employed. LÄS MER
5. The Lagrangian Stochastic Advective-Reactive Approach to Modeling Solute Transport in Hydrological Systems
Sammanfattning : The Lagrangian stochastic advective-reactive modelingapproach has been used for analyzing transport of bothnonreactive and reactive solutes in different hydrologicalsystems (structured soil, groundwater, mining waste rockdeposits and surface waters including single stream and networkof streams) and at different spatio-temporal scales (rangingfrom laboratory column-scale to catchment-scale). Further, afirst step has been taken to extending the Lagrangianstochastic advective-reactive modeling methodology to integratethe soil-groundwater-stream transport through a catchment. LÄS MER
