  1. 11. Tailoring Conducting Polymer Interface for Sensing and Biosensing

    Författare :Lingyin Meng; Wing Cheung Mak; Anthony Turner; Daniel Filippini; Mikhail Vagin; Man Bock Gu; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Conducting polymer; Interface; Sensing; Biosensing; Bioelectronics;

    Sammanfattning : The routine measurement of significant physiological and biochemical parameters has become increasingly important for health monitoring especially in the cases of elderly people, infants, patients with chronic diseases, athletes and soldiers etc. Monitoring is used to assess both physical fitness level and for disease diagnosis and treatment. 2. 12. Assessment of health-enhancing physical activity at population level

    Författare :Maria Hagströmer; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Adults; behaviour; correlates; epidemiology; exercise; lifestyle; monitoring; physical activity recommendations; validity;

    Sammanfattning : To assess the levels and patterns of health-enhancing physical activity in the population there is a real need for better instruments to be developed. The overall aims of this thesis were to test the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and to study the level of health-enhancing physical activity in the Swedish adult population using both the IPAQ (a subjective method) and accelerometry (an objective method). 3. 13. Assessment of physical activity and energy expenditure in adolescents

    Författare :Ulf Ekelund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Accelerometry; Activity diary; Doubly labelled water; Heart rate monitoring; FLEX HR; Oxygen uptake; Physical activity level; Total energy expenditure; ;

    Sammanfattning : Physical activity (PA) is a complex, multidimensional human behaviour that includes all bodily movement from fidgeting to participation in marathon running. The detailed relationship (i.e. dose - response) between the type and degree of PA and its effects on various aspects of health remains to be elucidated, not least in young people. LÄS MER

  4. 14. To cut or not to cut : the association between weight loss and cardiometabolic health in adolescents and adults after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass

    Författare :Markus Brissman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Energy cannot be destroyed, and in humans excess energy is stored as fat in adipose tissue. Accumulation of fat is thus the result of a positive energy balance, and obesity is defined as an excess amount of adipose tissue. LÄS MER

  5. 15. A 6 month physical activity intervention in university staff : effectiveness and health outcomes : the ASUKI Step Study

    Författare :Ali Soroush; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :physical activity;

    Sammanfattning : Physical inactivity is regarded a major public health concern and regular physical activity (PA) has been considered as an important lifestyle modification to improve health and prevent chronic disease. Setting the goal at walking 10,000 steps/day as a moderate-intensity form of aerobic PA has been advised to have beneficial health effects in the research and practice areas. LÄS MER
