  1. 1. MUSCLE STRENGTH, GROSS MOTOR FUNCTION AND GAIT PATTERN IN CHILDREN WITH CEREBRAL PALSY

    Författare :Meta Nyström Eek; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; child; muscle strength; reference values; cerebral palsy; motor skills; gait; resistance training;

    Sammanfattning : Aim The main purpose was to explore the relationship between muscle strength and walking ability in children with bilateral spastic cerebral palsy (CP), and to analyse whether muscle strength training can improve walking ability. Another aim was to establish normative values for muscle strength in terms of torque in typically developing children and adolescents, and in relation to sex, age and body weight. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Pre/Peri/Earl-Life Exposures and Early Child Neurodevelopment: Results from the Japan Environment and Children's Study (JECS)

    Författare :Kahoko Yasumitsu-Lovell; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pre Peri Early-life exposures; Child neurodevelopment; ESSENCE-Questionnaire; Vitamin D; Birth month; Gross motor development; Japan Environment and Children s Study JECS ;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Combinations of genetic and environmental factors contribute to aetiologies of neuropsychiatric problems and neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) in intricate manners. Among the environmental factors, exposures during the pre-/perinatal periods and early childhood are particularly important. LÄS MER

  3. 3. More than a foot : gait, gross motor skills, neurodevelopmental difficulties and health-related quality of life in children with idiopathic clubfoot

    Författare :Elin Lööf; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Idiopathic clubfoot (IC) is one of the most common congenital musculoskeletal deformities and can affect one or both feet of the child. However, knowledge beyond the structural deformity is still limited. This thesis aimed to evaluate unexplored fields by including measures that might affect the children’s overall health. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Characterization of the Combustion of Light Alcohols in CI Engines : Performance, Combustion Characteristics and Emissions

    Författare :Sam Shamun; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Methanol; Ethanol; Oxygenated Fuel Blends; Compression Ignition Engine; Partially Premixed Combustion; Combustion Characteristics; Efficiency; Emissions; Particulate Matter; Metanol; Etanl; Oxygenerade Bränsleblandningar; Kompressionsantänd Motor; Partiellt Förblandad Förbränning; Förbränningsegenskaper; Verkningsgrad; Emissioner; Partiklar;

    Sammanfattning : Alternative fuels for combustion engines are becoming increasingly popular as society is pushing to phase out fossil energy to reduce CO2 emissions. The compression ignition (CI) engine has a high overall efficiency which makes it a valuable option for the transport fleet, despite the well known NOx and soot pollutants it emits. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Role of the dopamine system in motor skill learning : implications for neurodevelopmental disorders

    Författare :Yu Qian; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Dopamine (DA), released by midbrain neurons, is critical for motor performance, motor skill learning, and corticostriatal synaptic plasticity. Dysregulation of DAergic signaling in corticostriatal circuitry has also been implicated in several highly heritable neurodevelopmental disorders, such as attention/deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which are often associated with deficits in fine motor skills.
