  1. 21. Genetics of Diabetes Subtypes. Characterization of novel cluster-based diabetes subtypes

    Författare :Dina Mansour Aly; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Precision medicine; Diabetes Subclassification; genome-wide association studies; GWAS; genetic risk scores; GRS; chronic kidney disease; CKD; diabetic kidney disease; DKD; Estimated glomerular filtration rate; eGFR; ANDIS; diabetes; diabetics;

    Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) has been reproducibly clustered into five subtypes based on six-clinical variables; age at diabetes onset, body mass index (BMI), Glutamic acid decarboxylase autoantibodies (GADA), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and insulin secretion and resistance estimated as HOMA2B and HOMA2IR derived from fasting glucose and Cpeptide. These subtypes have different disease progression and risk of complications. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Aspects of ethnicity on blood pressure regulating mechanisms and kidney function in a defined population

    Författare :Christopher Nilsson; Allmänmedicin och samhällsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glomerular filtration rate GFR ; Renal function; Ethnicity; biomarker; Pro-enkephalin; Blood pressure; chronic kidney disase; ANDIS; diabetes; diabetics;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Middle Eastern immigrants represent a growing population in Sweden today. This group are at higher risk for type 2 diabetes than the native population, but are also shown to exhibit unique properties; despite an abundance in traditional cardiometabolic risk factors such as obesity, dearranged blood lipids and diminished physical acitivity, this group seem to exhibit lower blood pressure levels. 4. 24. Identification of genes and pathways involved in the development and progression of glomerular diseases

    Författare :Dina Dabaghie; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects millions of people worldwide and is characterized by a reduction in glomerular filtration rate and albuminuria resulting in a gradual loss of kidney function. The high prevalence of the disease, along with the limited treatment options available, makes it a major burden to the health care systems around the world. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Nephrotic syndrome in children : functional, morphological and therapeutical aspects

    Författare :Eva Löwenborg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Children; glomerular volume; glomerular filtration rate; effective renal plasma flow; rats; nephrotic syndrome; cyclosporine; nephrotoxicity;

    Sammanfattning : Although cure rates of the idiopathic nephrotic syndrome in children have improved because of advances in immunosuppressive therapy, the pathogenesis and course of the disease remain controversial. We have followed children with nephrotic syndrome to study renal function and morphological changes in kidney biopsies and in an experimental study. LÄS MER
