  1. 6. Alcohol Consumption: A Study of Genetic and Environmental Correlates with Focus on the Stress System

    Författare :Aniruddha Todkar; Erika Comasco; Anja Huizink; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Alcohol; ELS; maternal separation; gene-environment; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Early life stress (ELS) is associated with risk of excessive alcohol drinking. However, the genetic mechanisms underlying the susceptibility to excessive alcohol drinking are not well understood. DNA methylation may mediate the influence of ELS on gene function and thereby contribute to alcohol misuse. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Alcohol Consumption among Adolescents : Psychosocial and Genetic influences

    Författare :Erika Comasco; Kent W. Nilsson; Lars Oreland; Rainer Spanagel; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :adolescents; alcohol; biomarkers; depression; drinking motives; FAEE; gene environment interaction; interview; OPRM1; PER2; PEth; questionnaire; sleep; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis is based on four studies focusing on alcohol consumption among Swedish adolescents, and therewith related psychosocial and genetic factors. One main objective was to study the reasons for drinking alcohol among different population - representative samples of adolescents in order to identify motives for drinking. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Gene-environment interactions in rheumatoid arthritis : quantification and characterization of contributing factors

    Författare :Xia Jiang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease characterised by persistent synovitis, systemic inflammation and autoantibodies. RA has a complex aetiology with the involvement of genetic factors and environmental triggers, and their interactions. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Family history, genes and gene-environment interaction in risk and prognosis of non-Hodgkin lymphoma

    Författare :Fredrik Baecklund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) is a heterogeneous group of malignant diseases arising from lymphocytes. There are about 40 subtypes according to the World Health Organizations classification system, differing in morphology, immunophenotype, genetic and/or clinical features. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Fibrinogen and susceptibility to myocardial infarction : role of gene-gene and gene-environment interactions

    Författare :Maria Nastase Mannila; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Atherothrombosis; epistasis; fibrinogen; fibrinogen gamma; fibrin clot structure; haplotypes; myocardial infarction; pleiotropy; SNPs;

    Sammanfattning : Fibrinogen, the precursor of fibrin, is a glycoprotein synthesized in the liver and maintained in plasma at concentrations normally ranging between 2-4 g/L. The fibrinogen molecule consists of two sets of three non-identical polypeptide chains, which are encoded by the fibrinogen gamma (FGG), fibrinogen alpha (FGA) and fibrinogen beta (FGB) genes clustered on chromosome 4.
