21. Fracture healing, functional outcome and health related quality of life in younger patients with a femoral neck fracture
Sammanfattning : Few prospective studies have investigated the patient-reported outcome measures (PROM) in patients less than 70 years that sustained a femoral neck fracture (FNF) treated with closed reduction and internal fixation (CRIF). The health-related quality of life (HRQoL) using the self-administered questionnaires EuroQol 5 Dimension (EQ-5D) and Short Form- 36 Health Survey (SF-36) and with a long term follow-up has not previously been examined in this group of patients. 22. Inflammation in Cancellous and Cortical Bone Healing
Sammanfattning : Fractures in humans most commonly occur near the joints, in the metaphyseal bone area mainly consisting of cancellous bone. Despite this, mainly cortical fractures, located in the diaphyseal bone area, have been studied in experimental models of bone healing. LÄS MER
23. Spontaneous correction of fracture deformity : a study in the rat
Sammanfattning : The aim of the present study was to elaborate a model in the rat permitting analysis of bone modeling to correct fracture deformity. Among conceivable regulators of this process, the study focused on the peripheral nervous system by analyzing markers of regenerating (GAP-43), mature (PGP 9.5) and sensory (CGRP) nerve fibers at the fracture site. 24. Atypical femoral fractures: Another brick in the wall : On aspects of healing, treatment strategies and surveillance
Sammanfattning : Atypical femoral fractures are stress fractures of the femoral subtrochanteric and diaphyseal region. It is a common notion that these fractures heal poorly, if at all. In this thesis we show that patients with atypical femoral fractures have a good capacity to generate bone and therefore heal fractures. LÄS MER
25. Resorbable Bone Cement for Augmentation of Hip Fracture
Sammanfattning : Surgical treatment of hip fractures is frequently associated with secondary fracture displacement, in part due to weak osteoporotic bone. So far, improvements have focused on new metal implants although an alternative could be to augment the bone that surrounds the implant. LÄS MER
