36. Hydrogeophysics of Tropical Africa : Recent advances and perspectives
Sammanfattning : In the present work an attempt is made to put into perspective the hydrogeophysical investigations for rural water supply carried out over the last two decades in tropical Africa, paying special attention to groundwater targets in the weathered rocks in and above the crystalline basement. The applicability of geophysical techniques in groundwater investigations in tropical Africa, particularly the DC resistivity and electromagnetic techniques is discussed in the light of recent developments in instrumentation, data collection and interpretation procedures. 37. Parallel algorithms for real-time railway rescheduling
Sammanfattning : In railway traffic systems, it is essential to achieve a high punctuality to satisfy the goals of the involved stakeholders. Thus, whenever disturbances occur, it is important to effectively reschedule trains while considering the perspectives of various stakeholders. LÄS MER
38. Modelling the Protein-DNA Interface
Sammanfattning : Protein-DNA interactions are crucial to life. Several millions of DNA base pair steps are organ- ised, read and protected by proteins in every cell. Protein-DNA interactions must be specific, controllable and reasonably fast. Understanding how these features coexist is one of the great challenges for biochemists and molecular biologists. LÄS MER
39. Management of 1-D sequence data - from discrete to continuous
Sammanfattning : Data over ordered domains such as time or linear positions are termed sequence data. Sequence data require special treatments which are not provided by traditional DBMSs. Modelling sequence data in traditional (relational) database systems often results in awkward query expressions and bad performance. LÄS MER
40. Modern GIR Systems : Framework, Retrieval Model and Indexing Techniques
Sammanfattning : Geographic information is one of the most important and the most common types of information in human society. It is estimated that more than 70% of all information in the world has some kind of geographic features. LÄS MER
