  1. 1. Structural studies of the ERGIC-53/MCFD2 glycoprotein transport receptor complex

    Författare :Edvard Wigren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The secretory pathway defines and maintains the intracellular architecture of the eukaryotic cell. Proteins targeted to either the plasma membrane, the extracellular medium or to specific organelles within the cell are dependent on the correct transfer along this pathway. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Structural insights into glycoprotein transport and viral escape

    Författare :Lucas Malard Velloso; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :X-ray crystallography; glycoprotein transport; endoplasmic reticulum; p58 ERGIC-53; MHC class I molecules; viral escape;

    Sammanfattning : The correct trafficking of proteins through the secretory pathway is essential for the maintenance of cellular functions. Increasing evidence suggests that at least for some glycoproteins, export from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is mediated by interaction with cargo receptors. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Structural studies of glycoprotein sorting and processing complexes in the early secretory pathway

    Författare :Dominik Possner; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The secretory pathway of a eukaryotic cell exerts a stringently regulated quality control system for the correct folding and transport of newly synthesised proteins and their subsequent transfer to their final destinations. While this pathway has been mostly studied in yeast, it has become increasingly clear that aberrations in its function are the main causes of a range of human disorders, and we are still in the process of gathering knowledge of the underlying molecular structures and mechanisms of the disease-causing agents in order to fully understand their impact. 4. 4. Aspects on the psychopharmacology of cholecystokinin

    Författare :Diana Radu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cholecystokinin; brain; tripeptidyl-peptidase II; CCK receptors; schizophrenia; anxiety; stress; rat; monkey; human; pentagastrin; C-peptide; mRNA;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis includes studies of the effect of mild stress on brain cholecystokinin (CCK), anatomy of markers for CCK-ergic transmission in the brain and the systemic effect of CCK receptor stimulation in a clinical test for anxiety and fear. CCK is a brain-gut peptide acting as a neurotransmitter in mammalian brain via CCKA (CCK1) and CCKB (CCK2) receptors. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Child and adult homicide in Sweden : epidemiological and forensic features

    Författare :Jonatan Hedlund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Homicide occurs worldwide and is often regarded a major public-health concern. The studies comprising the present thesis were conducted with a view to advancing knowledge of both child and adult homicide from the viewpoints of different branches of forensic science. LÄS MER
