16. Biogeochemical data from SGU : properties and applications
Sammanfattning : Geochemical mapping is a technique that has been used all over the world for a multitude of purposes. The biogeochemical mapping programme conducted by the Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU) is mainly based on stream plant chemistry, which, opposed to mapping based on inorganic stream sediments or soils, is a method that is very uncommon. 17. Characterization of suspended particulate matter from freshwater : validation of a field filtration technique
Sammanfattning : A field filtration method for the concentration and separation of suspended particulate matter (SPM) from freshwater systems and the subsequent determination of major, minor, trace and ultra trace elements (Al, As, Ba, Be, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cs, Cu, Fe, Ga, Hf, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Nb, Ni, P, Pb, Rb, S, Sb, Sc, Si, Sn, Sr, Ta, Th, Ti, Tl, U, V, W, Zn and Zr) is validated with respect to detection limits, precision, and bias. The validation comprises the whole procedure including filtration, sample digestion and instrumental analysis. LÄS MER
18. Representation and diurnal variation of upper tropospheric humidity in observations and models
Sammanfattning : The role of water vapour is manifold in its climate regulation of the Earth system. Most important of all despite its low concentration, is the role it plays in the upper troposphere. LÄS MER
19. Geochemical effects of soil cover remediation on sulphide-rich tailings at the Kristineberg mine, northern Sweden
Sammanfattning : Remediation of mine waste by the application of till cover is one of the more common methods used in Sweden to prevent oxidation of sulphide-rich minerals. Although the general conclusion from Swedish state-of-the-art field studies is that dry covers may be effective, they are expensive to construct. LÄS MER
20. Juvenile birch in Sweden : Selected stem characteristics for interior and furniture applications
Sammanfattning : In response to the furniture industry’s growing demand for raw material, large volumes of juvenile silver birch and downy birch stems available from pre-commercial thinning operations in Sweden’s forests could offer solutions. However, such stems are not currently used on an industrial scale, and most research conducted on birch stems in general has neither focussed on young trees nor the potential use of the central stem part around the tree pith.
