  1. 16. The decay of beauty quark to τ lepton and neutrino in the DELPHI experiment at LEP

    Författare :Gian Claudio Zucchelli; J.D. Hansen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; Physics; fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Using 3.5 millions hadronic Z0 events collected during the LEP1 period at the DELPHI detector, the decays of b quarks to tvt have been searched for in both the inclusive and exclusive decay modes. The analysis technique is based on b-tagging, missing energy and identifications of t products. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Isomeric yield ratios in nuclear fission

    Författare :Zhihao Gao; Andreas Solders; Ali Al-Adili; Mattias Lantz; Stephan Pomp; Olivier Serot; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear fission; isomeric yield ratio; angular momentum; independent fission yield; ion guide; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Isomeric yield ratios (IYR), referring to the relative yield of the high spin states of a nucleus to the total yield of all observed states, is an observable of nuclear fission that has the potential to improve our understanding of the fission dynamics. Apart from that, systematic observations of IYRs can also contribute to other areas, such as the validation of fission models, modelling of the r-process in stellar nucleosynthesis, studies of the antineutrino mixing angle, the safety of present-day nuclear reactors, and the design of advanced reactor systems. 3. 18. Probing the Standard Model Higgs boson in the WW decay mode with the ATLAS detector at the LHC

    Författare :Jelena Jovicevic; Bengt Lund-Jensen; Rickard Enberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerns an analysis to probe the Higgs boson in the H→WW(*)→lvlv decay mode, one of three analyses contributing to the discovery of the Higgs boson at a mass of mH = 125 GeV in July 2012. The dataset used are the proton-proton collisions collected with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider during 2012 at a centre of mass energy of 8 TeV, and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 13. 4. 19. Predictions of Effective Models in Neutrino Physics

    Författare :Johannes Bergström; Tommy Ohlsson; Rikard Enberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neutrino mass; lepton mixing; Majorana neutrinos; effective field theory; Weinberg operator; seesaw models; low-scale seesaw models; inverse seesaw; right-handed neutrinos; renormalization group; threshold effects; neutrinoless double beta decay; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Experiments on neutrino oscillations have confirmed that neutrinos have small, but non-zero masses, and that the interacting neutrino states do not have definite masses, but are mixtures of such states.The seesaw models make up a group of popular models describing the small neutrino masses and the corresponding mixing. 5. 20. Search for Charged Higgs Bosons in e+e− Collisions

    Författare :Mattias Ellert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiation sciences; Strålningsvetenskap; Radiation biology; Strålningsbiologi; High Energy Physics; Högenergifysik;

    Sammanfattning : Several extensions to the Standard Model predict the existence of charged Higgs bosons. This thesis describes the search for such a particle using the data collected by the DELPHI detector at the Large Electron Positron (LEP) collider at the European laboratory for particle physics (CERN) in Geneva, Switzerland.
