36. New insights into solubility control mechanisms and the role of particle- and colloid-facilitated transport of metals in contaminated soils
Sammanfattning : Particle- and colloid-mediated transport of metals can be an important leaching pathway in contaminated soils, making it necessary to include this process in risk assessments of contaminant transport. In this thesis, mechanisms involved in transport of particulate, colloidal and truly dissolved lead, chromium, zinc, arsenic and antimony were studied in an irrigation experiment performed on intact soil columns from four historically contaminated soils. 37. Particles and unregulated emissions from CI engines subjected to emission control
Sammanfattning : Compression ignited (CI) engines, commonly known as diesel engines, are widely used power sources with complex emissions used in on-road and nonroad applications. To find out the impact of diesel exhaust emissions on health and the environment, both regulated and unregulated exhaust gas properties have to be evaluated. LÄS MER
38. Tools for the Advancement of Radiopharmaceutical Therapy
Sammanfattning : Radiopharmaceutical therapy is used to treat cancers and other diseases with radiolabeled pharmaceuticals. The treatment targets specific cells, and the emitted ionizing radiation cause cytotoxic damage. Dosimetry is performed to estimate the absorbed dose from the energy deposited in the body. LÄS MER
39. Combining Nanoplasmonics and Nanofluidics for Single Particle Catalysis
Sammanfattning : Nanoparticles are, due to their large exposed surface area, widely used in the field of heterogeneous catalysis where they accelerate and steer chemical reactions. Although catalysis has been known about for centuries, the scrutiny of catalysts under realistic application conditions is still a major challenge. LÄS MER
40. Study and empirical modelling of recrystallisation annealing of martensitic chromium steel strip by means of EBSD
Sammanfattning : Recrystallisation annealing, a repeated heat treatment between different stages of cold rolling of martensitic chromium steel strip, is successful when neither high rolling forces nor wear of the working rolls occur during the subsequent cold rolling. Mechanical properties as tensile strength, yield, elongation or hardness have been, by tradition, the criteria that described the quality of the annealing process. LÄS MER
