1. Single Copper Nanoparticle Oxidation
Sammanfattning : Cu nanoparticles are commonly used in microelectronic devices and as catalysts in, for example, methanol synthesis and methanol steam reforming reactions. However, Cu nanoparticles are prone to oxidation. LÄS MER
2. Operando Single Particle Catalysis - Combining a Nanoreactor and Plasmonic Nanospectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Heterogeneous catalysis is an important cornerstone of modern society with strong ties to the development of sustainable sources of energy and products. Catalysts are typically realized as supported metal nanoparticles that offer active sites that can accelerate chemical reactions by providing energetically more favorable reaction paths. LÄS MER
3. Antioxidative Properties of Herring (Clupea harengus) Press Juice in Food, In Vitro and In Vivo Model Systems
Sammanfattning : Some species like herring (Clupea harengus) are currently under-utilized due to their small size, dark colour and susceptibility to lipid oxidation. Our hypothesis has been that the high susceptibility of herring to oxidation makes it well equipped with natural antioxidants, both fat and water soluble ones. LÄS MER
4. Microdialysis Sampling, Electrochemical Detection and Mass Spectrometry of Carbohydrates in Monitoring Bioprocesses
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses; (1) the microdialysis experiment, application and methodology to maximise its performance when sampling from enzymatic bioprocesses, (2) electrochemical detection and electrochemical oxidation of carbohydrates on Au as well as Cu electrodes in alkaline solutions, and (3) coupling and maximising the performance of a microdialysis sampling based high performance anion exchange chromatography-integrated pulsed electrochemical detection-mass spectrometry system. Studies were carried out to investigate the effect of temperature, analyte as well as biomatrix complexity, analyte concentration, permeability factors, protein(enzyme)-membrane interaction and membrane material on the performance of microdialysis sampling. 5. Combining Nanoplasmonics and Nanofluidics for Single Particle Catalysis
Sammanfattning : Nanoparticles are, due to their large exposed surface area, widely used in the field of heterogeneous catalysis where they accelerate and steer chemical reactions. Although catalysis has been known about for centuries, the scrutiny of catalysts under realistic application conditions is still a major challenge. LÄS MER
