  1. 6. Mechanisms determining efficacy of tyrosine kinase-targeting anti-cancer drugs

    Författare :Maja Bradic Lindh; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The expanding field of cancer research and the introduction of multiple molecular biology techniques have significantly improved cancer drug discovery, presented new drugs, including tyrosine kinase inhibitors, and thereby gave new hope to the cancer patients and their oncologists. Using this knowledge it is now becoming increasingly possible to determine outcome of malignant disease more accurately, to estimate response to specific therapies and to get closer to the ideal of personalized targeted therapy adjusted to each patient, and to the specific cancer type and its unique genetic profile. 2. 7. Immunological changes in human blood and skeletal muscle in response to physical exercise

    Författare :Christer Malm; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Eccentric exercise; soccer; football; adaptation; immune system; muscle; inflammation; damage; leukocytes; growth factors; cytokines; adhesion; signaling; hormones.;

    Sammanfattning : Physical exercise is essential for maintaining normal function of skeletal muscle. Muscle tissue also has a remarkable capacity for adaptation to changes in physical demand. In fact, without stimulation from physical activity, muscle tissue will atrophy. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Studies of cell migration and matrix protease production in human lung cancer cell lines

    Författare :Cecilia G Bredin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Lung cancer; extracellular matrix; growth factors; matrix metalloproteases; integrins; migration; invasion;

    Sammanfattning : Metastatic spread in cancer is a complex multistep process involving continuous, sequential interactions between tumour cells and their respective microenvironment. Invasiveness per se has not been studied in this thesis, only some of its major components, such as cell migration and matrix protease production. LÄS MER
