  1. 16. Extreme environments - Design and human factors considerations

    Författare :Olga Bannova; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Extreme environments; Engineering; Engineer; Architect; Design Planning; Architecture; Multidisciplinary and Trans-disciplinary Design and Planning; Human Factors;

    Sammanfattning : The starting point of this research is based on my experience at SICSA performing research and design for extreme environments, including orbital and lunar planetary facilities, disaster shelters, polar stations and offshore surface and submersible habitats. This thesis explores what aspects and issues of design and planning processes in extreme environments have to be addressed in a similar way and therefore may be used as a basis for further work toward PhD thesis to develop a methodological planning tool or matrix. 2. 17. Integrated design and construction for bridges: key aspects and benefits

    Författare :Daniel P T Ekström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; industrialized construction; ICT; concurrent engineering; BIM; integrated design; Lean Construction; Integration in construction;

    Sammanfattning : The rate of productivity and innovation capacity within the Swedish construction industry of today is perceived to lead to a poor return of investment within infrastructures. Bridges, are commonly designed for a long service-life, and all stages after realization is greatly dependent on and constrained by decisions made during design and construction of the structure. 3. 18. Residential usability and social sustainability, Towards a paradigm shift within housing design?

    Författare :Anna Braide; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; alterability; residential usability; residential design; adaptability; residential process; demographic transformation; user participation; flexibility; social sustainability;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACTThe ongoing demographic transformation poses challenges for the field of residential design. Meanwhile rules and regulations maintain a conventional approach to the subject. The housing market is considering the home as a commercialized lifestyle question, not focusing on the long-term residential resilience of the housing stock. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Outdoor Comfort in Cold Climates : Integrating Microclimate Factors in Urban Design

    Författare :Saeed Ebrahimabadi; Sigrid Reiter; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Architecture; Arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : Designing urban spaces that provide outdoor comfort is an important but challenging goal in subarctic climates. An approach to urban design that is sensitive to subarctic climatic conditions is essential, but this requires effective incorporation of urban climate knowledge into urban design, which presently is impeded by several barriers. 5. 20. Designing for Extremes

    Författare :Olga Bannova; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Architect; Human Factors; Engineering; Engineer; Multidisciplinary and Trans-disciplinary Design and Planning.; Extreme environments; Architecture; Design Planning;

    Sammanfattning : The starting point of this research is based on personal experience in research and design for extreme environments, including orbital and lunar planetary facilities, disaster shelters, polar stations and offshore surface and submersible habitats. This work reflects on related to research problem technical papers, discussions with professionals about their work experience with projects in extreme conditions, and students' workshops debating strategies to form sustainable behavior and design practices.
