26. Fibre Bragg Gratings : Characterization, Realization and Simulation
Sammanfattning : The main topic of this thesis is realization and characterization of fibre Bragg gratings. A novel versatile grating fabrication technique is developed and a number of gratings are realized, showing the potential of the system. LÄS MER
27. Studies in plausibility theory, with applications to physics
Sammanfattning : The discipline usually called `probability theory' can be seen as the theory which describes and sets standard norms to the way we reason about plausibility. From this point of view, this `plausibility theory' is a province of logic, and the following informal proportion subsists: plausibility theory is to the common notion of `plausibility', as deductive logic is to the common notion of `truth'. 28. Photonic Qubits for Quantum Communication : Exploiting photon-pair correlations; from theory to applications
Sammanfattning : For any communication, the conveyed information must be carried by some physical system. If this system is a quantum system rather than a classical one, its behavior will be governed by the laws of quantum mechanics. LÄS MER
29. Investigation of 234U(n,f) with a Frisch-grid ionization chamber
Sammanfattning : This work treats three topics. The main topic concerns neutron-induced fission of 234U. The main goal is to investigate the fission-fragments properties as a function of the incident neutron energy. The study was carried out using a twin Frisch-grid ionization chamber. LÄS MER
30. An upgrade of the SCANDAL facility for neutron scattering measurements at 175 MeV
Sammanfattning : The experimental setup SCANDAL, used for measurements of the differential cross section for elastic neutron scattering, has been upgraded with new Na doped CsI scintillating detectors for measurements at 175 MeV. Two experimental campaigns have been carried out, collecting data on three different nuclei: iron, bismuth and silicon. LÄS MER
