11. Nanoscale Reaction Systems
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis describes the use of polystyrene nanoparticles as model surfaces for bioanalytical work. Nanoparticles constitute convenient platforms for the attachment of bioactive agents, and receptor coated particles offer high local concentration of binding sites for specific ligands with minimal steric hindrance. 12. Design and Development of Mineral Structure Specific Collectors in Flotation
Sammanfattning : The success of mineral flotation processes depends on the hydrophobization of the surface for the desired mineral particles whilst keeping, or making, all other minerals hydrophilic. This is achieved by adding several reagents to the flotation pulp to adsorb selectively at the mineral/water interface. LÄS MER
13. Metal-Chelate Complexes in Alkaline Solution : On Recovery Techniques and Cellulose-based Hybrid Material Synthesis
Sammanfattning : For decades, aminopolycarboxylate chelating agents have been extensively used in various industrial applications. The ability of chelating agents to form stable metal-chelate complexes is the main reason for using them to manage metal ions within water-based industrial processes. LÄS MER
14. Metal Oxide Nanoparticles for Contrast Enhancement in Magnetic Resonance Imaging : Synthesis, Functionalization and Characterization
Sammanfattning : This thesis work focuses on the design and production of nanoparticle based contrast agents for signal enhancement in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Three different synthesis routes are explored, primarily to produce crystalline gadolinium oxide (Gd2O3) nanoparticles, and surface modification is done to obtain stable, dispersible, biocompatible probes inducing high proton relaxivities. 15. Lean NOx reduction over silver-alumina catalysts - Aspects on synthesis, structure and activity
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to increase the understanding of how to design highly active silver-alumina catalysts for selective catalytic reduction of NOx with hydrocarbons (HC-SCR) in oxygen excess at low temperatures (150-250 °C). Silver-alumina catalysts have been prepared using different methods, including a new unique preparation method developed during the thesis project. LÄS MER
