21. C–H and Si–H functionalization using redox-active diazo compounds and decarboxylative coupling
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis is based on two basic organic chemistry concepts: carbene catalysis and radical coupling reactions. Diazo compounds in the presence of transition-metal catalysts are known to be excellent reagents for the construction of C–X bonds (X = C, Si, N, O, etc.) under mild conditions. LÄS MER
22. Structure, Bonding and Transport of SiC and Graphitic Systems
Sammanfattning : Today's development of new electronic devices requires materials that can operate under harsh conditions. One such material is Silicon Carbide (SiC) which exhibits superior properties such as chemical inertness, high durability, high thermal stability, high thermal conductivity, and extreme hardness. 23. Employment of Palladium Pincer Complex Catalysts and Lewis Acids for Synthesis and Transformation of Organometallic Compounds
Sammanfattning : This thesis is mainly focused on the development of new palladium catalyzed transformations using so-called “pincer” complexes. These complexes were applied as catalysts in two important areas of organometallic chemistry: substitution of propargylic substrates by dimetallic reagents; and allylation of aldehydes and imines by allylstannanes. 24. Risk factors for the development of chronic renal failure : epidemiological studies on the role of analgesic use, occupational exposures and socioeconomic background
Sammanfattning : Chronic renal failure is a severe condition that reduces life expectancy and typically progresses to end-stage renal disease and a need for renal replacement therapy. In a large proportion of cases, chronic renal failure evolves from known renal or systemic diseases, but in some cases the pathogenesis remains unknown. LÄS MER
25. Eutectic Modification of Al-Si casting alloys
Sammanfattning : Aluminum alloys with silicon as the major alloying element are the most widely used aluminum casting alloys. The eutectic phase in these alloys is formed by hard and brittle silicon plates in an aluminum matrix. Such silicon plates can act as crack propagation paths deteriorating the toughness of the material. LÄS MER
