  1. 1. Food and Parasites – Life-history Decisions in Copepods

    Författare :Lena Sivars Becker; Ingrid Ahnesjö; Ineke T. van der Veen; Alex Robert Kraaijeveld; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; life-history; resource allocation; Macrocyclops albidus; cestode infection; Schistocephalus solidus; Biologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : In the freshwater copepod, Macrocyclops albidus, food availability, rearing conditions and tapeworm infection clearly affected various life-history traits and their trade-offs. I found that low food availability clearly constrained resource allocations to several life-history (often phenotypically plastic) traits, whereas high food availability either allowed for adjustments in resource allocation patterns or allowed resources to be allocated to several traits without apparent trade-offs. 2. 2. The brain-pituitary-gonadal axis of the three-spined stickleback, Gasterosteus aculeatus

    Författare :Yi Ta Shao; Bertil Borg; Sylvie Dufou; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; BPG axis; GnRH; lh-β; fsh-β; three-spined stickleback; Gasterosteus aculeatus; homeostasis; feedback; funktionell zoomorfologi; Functional Zoomorphology;

    Sammanfattning : The seasonal reproduction of the three-spined stickleback is stimulated by long day photoperiod. As in other vertebrates, the reproductive system of stickleback is regulated by the brain-pituitary-gonadal (BPG) axis which is largely controlled by feedback effects. Both negative and positive feedback effects on the BPG axis have been found in fish. LÄS MER
