  1. 21. Communication-Computation Efficient Federated Learning over Wireless Networks

    Författare :Afsaneh Mahmoudi; Carlo Fischione; José Mairton Barros da Silva Jr.; Nikolaos Pappas; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : With the introduction of the Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G cellular networks, edge computing will substantially alleviate the quality of service shortcomings of cloud computing. With the advancements in edge computing, machine learning (ML) has performed a significant role in analyzing the data produced by IoT devices. LÄS MER

  2. 22. On the Role of Performance Interference in Consolidated Environments

    Författare :Navaneeth Rameshan; Vladimir Vlassov; Manish Parashar; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Performance; Interference; Virtualization; Elastic Scaling; Utilization; Datalogi; Computer Science;

    Sammanfattning : With the advent of resource shared environments such as the Cloud, virtualization has become the de facto standard for server consolidation. While consolidation improves utilization, it causes performance-interference between Virtual Machines (VMs) from contention in shared resources such as CPU, Last Level Cache (LLC) and memory bandwidth. 3. 23. Hierarchical scheduling for predictable execution of real-time software components and legacy systems

    Författare :Rafia Inam; Mikael Sjödin; Jukka Mäki-Turja; Moris Behnam; Giuseppe Lipari; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; real-time systems; component integration and reuse; hierarchical scheduling; multicore; Computer Science; datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation presents techniques to achieve predictable execution of coarse-grained software components and for preservation of temporal properties of components during their integration and reuse.The dissertation presents a novel concept runnable virtual node (RVN) which interaction with the environment is bounded both by a functional and a temporal interface, and the validity of its internal temporal behaviour is preserved when integrated with other components or when reused in a new environment. 4. 24. Exploring stakeholder perceptions of an urban protected area and associated co-management arrangements: Macassar Dunes, Cape Town, South Africa

    Författare :Marnie Graham; Henrik Ernstson; Thomas Elmqvist; Maria Stenseke; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Natural Resources Management; naturresurshushållning; Human Geography; kulturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Within our cities the importance of urban green spaces such as forests, parks, wetlands, and protected areas are increasingly recognised for their contribution to human health and wellbeing, and in the provision of ecosystem services. Meanwhile, cities contain much social, cultural, economic, and environmental diversity, and natural resource management strategies for green areas need to account for the diversity of perspectives and conflict spaces that such urban diversity can encapsulate. 5. 25. Adaptive Microarchitectural Optimizations to Improve Performance and Security of Multi-Core Architectures

    Författare :Nadja Holtryd; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Multi-Core Architectures; Bandwidth Partitioning; Prefetch Throttling; Cache Partitioning; Microarchitectural Optimizations; Side-channel Attacks;

    Sammanfattning : With the current technological barriers, microarchitectural optimizations are increasingly important to ensure performance scalability of computing systems. The shift to multi-core architectures increases the demands on the memory system, and amplifies the role of microarchitectural optimizations in performance improvement. LÄS MER
