16. Data analytics for weak spot detection in power distribution grids
Sammanfattning : This research aims to develop data-driven methods that extract information from the available data in distribution grids for detecting weak spots, including the components with degraded reliability and areas with power quality problems. The results enable power distribution companies to change from reactive maintenance to predictive maintenance by deriving benefits from available data. LÄS MER
17. A Play of Light and Spins: Excitation and Detection of Non-linear Magnetization Dynamics using Light
Sammanfattning : The excitation and detection of magnetization dynamics play key roles in the field of spintronics and magnonics. In this thesis, we investigate a contactless method of exciting nonlinear magnetization dynamics using a femtosecond pulsed laser, and study the same with a Brillouin Light Scattering (BLS) microscope. 18. Evolutionary Consequences of Reproductive Strategies : Testing Theory on Sex and Reproductive Gene Evolution in the Fungal Model Neurospora
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I used the filamentous ascomycete genus Neurospora as a model to test theoretical predictions on the evolutionary consequences of different reproductive strategies and reproductive gene evolution. The genus Neurospora contains taxa representing a diversity of reproductive strategies, and here I constructed a phylogeny by which I was able to show that several independent transitions in reproductive mode have occurred in the evolutionary history of the genus. 19. Toward fully automatic earthquake detection and processing for tomography in the Hengill area
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the automation of seismic data analysis, in particular, event detection, quality assessment of detected events, and preparation of an earthquake catalogue for seismic tomography. The developed event detector uses back-propagation and stacking of a seismic trace attribute with a known velocity model to detect and locate events. 20. Spatial characteristics of atrial fibrillation using body surface and intra-atrial signals
Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis is in the field of biomedical signal processing with main focus on processing of cardiac signals measured on the body surface or invasively from patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). The first part addresses spatial analysis of AF using VCG data synthesized from the 12-lead ECG. LÄS MER
