  1. 16. Multiscale Modelling of Reinforced Concrete Structures

    Författare :Adam Sciegaj; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cracking; reinforced concrete; computational homogenisation; bond-slip; multiscale;

    Sammanfattning : Concrete cracks at relatively low tensile stresses; cracks open up for ingress of harmful substances, negatively affecting the durability of reinforced concrete structures. Crack widths are thus limited in the design codes, and accurate predictions are needed, especially for large reinforced concrete structures such as bridges or nuclear reactor containment buildings. 2. 17. Radiation Detection Techniques for the Enhancement of Nuclear Safety

    Författare :Petty Bernitt Cartemo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; whole body counting; depth profiling; voxel phantom; nuclear safeguards; Monte Carlo; orphan sources; radiation-induced material damage; pulsed beam; positron lifetime;

    Sammanfattning : The hazard originating from the use of nuclear materials in various areas of the society necessitates a number of experimental techniques for controlling and increasing the safety connected to radioactive substances.The following thesis is divided into two parts, representing different aspects to the detection of radiation effects. 3. 18. Practical Implementation of Quality Assurance Guidelines for Hyperthermia Therapy

    Författare :Mattia de Lazzari; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hyperthermia; quality assurance; tissue-mimicking phantoms;

    Sammanfattning : Hyperthermia therapy (HT) has been proven to be a potent enhancer of chemotherapy and radiotherapy in numerous clinical trials. The effectiveness of HT is strictly dependent on the administered thermal dose, which, in turn, is dependent on the quality of the therapeutic heat applied to the patient. LÄS MER

    Författare :Johan Bondesson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; surface curvature; chirality; cardiac pulsatility; aneurysm; helical morphology; stereolithographic 3D surfaces; TEVAR; geometric modeling; endograft; Thoracic aorta; type B aortic dissection; bird-beaking;

    Sammanfattning : Vascular disease risk factors such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia and old age are all results of modern-day lifestyle, and these diseases are getting more and more common. One treatment option for vascular diseases such as aneurysms and dissections is endovascular aortic repair introduced in the early 1990s. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Cold spray Cr-coated Optimized ZIRLO claddings: an option for accident tolerant fuels

    Författare :Andrea Fazi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cr coating; atom probe tomography; cold spray; accident tolerant fuel;

    Sammanfattning : Accident tolerant fuel development has started with the aim of providing nuclear fuels able to endure severe accident conditions. Research in this field has also sparked a wave of material renewal in the nuclear industry that had being delayed for the last few decades. LÄS MER
