1. Small science on big machines: Politics and practices of synchrotron radiation laboratories
Sammanfattning : Synchrotron radiation laboratories are large scientific facilities where various scientific experiments are carried out by the use of radiation produced by particle accelerators. Research with synchrotron radiation emerged in the 1960s and 1970s as a peripheral activity at particle physics laboratories. LÄS MER
2. Närsjukhuset - Fysisk struktur för patientfokuserad vård
Sammanfattning : Access to healthcare and medical treatment is essential in the society of today. Th e optimisation ofresources has a great impact on architectural design, the location of facilities and access to health services.Lack of skilled staff in the healthcare sector will considerably aff ect the organisation and the designof facilities. 3. Systems Engineering for Computing Systems at Accelerator based Research Facilities
Sammanfattning : Large research facilities are major research enablers for expanding fields in various natural sciences. Traditionally built for physics and astronomy, nowadays fields like life sciences, medicine, molecular sciences and material sciences have become the driving forces, especially for particle accelerator based research facilities. 4. Towards a BIM-enabled Facility Management : Promises, Obstacles and Requirements
Sammanfattning : A substantial share of the organisations’ annual costs is associated with their facilities. A fundamental shift from a reactive facility management (FM) practice to a strategically orchestrated FM profession is thus a prerequisite for increased resource efficiency. LÄS MER
5. Studies of Volcanic Influence on Aerosols, Clouds and Climate
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the influence of volcanism on the compositions of the aerosols in the upper troposphere (UT) and lowermost stratosphere (LMS), and their direct and indirect impact on climate. Aerosol data were obtained by aircraft-borne sampling, using the CARIBIC (Civil Aircraft for the Regular Investigation of the Atmosphere Based on an Instrument Container) platform, and laboratory-based ion beam analysis of aerosol samples at the Lund Ion Beam Analysis Facility (LIBAF).
