11. On Nonlinear Acoustics in Contrast Echocardiography
Sammanfattning : Ultrasound is one of the most commonly used noninvasive medical imaging techniques. Ultrasound contrast agents (UCA), consisting of encapsulated gas-filled microbubbles, have shown to increase the diagnostic precision in selected low echogenic patients. LÄS MER
12. Fully Nonlinear Unsteady Three-Dimensional Boundary Element Method for Ship Motions in Waves
Sammanfattning : The prediction of the behavior of ships in a seaway has been an important topic in ship design since the beginning of modern naval architecture. In recent years, computer simulations using numerical methods based on mathematical models of the ship hydrodynamics problem has become a valuable tool for researchers and engineers working in this field. 13. Fully Nonlinear Unsteady Three-Dimensional Boundary Element Method for Force Predictions on a Restrained Hull in Waves
Sammanfattning : There is a need from both academia and industry for more accurate and efficient methods for predicting the behavior of ships in a seaway. A large variety of methods with varying level of sophistication and accuracy already exists today. LÄS MER
14. Nonlinear dynamics in transitional wall-bounded flows
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on numerical studies of subcritical transition to turbulence in shear flows. The thesis employs a framework based on nonlinear dynamics in the subsequent studies. The geometrical approach to subcritical transition pivots the concepts of edge manifold and edge state. LÄS MER
15. Towards 6 Degrees of Freedom Seakeeping Simulations Using a Fully Nonlinear Potential Flow Method
Sammanfattning : In recent years, the International Maritime Organization introduced a new set of rules in order to try to reduce emissions of ships by improving their efficiency. To assess the energy efficiency of a new ship, the regulations require to estimate the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI), which represent the amount of Carbon Dioxide produced per mile in relation to the amount of cargo carried, and verify that it is smaller than a prescribed value.
