  1. 1. Fluctuations and nonequilibrium thermodynamics in electronic nanosystems

    Författare :Ludovico Tesser; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Charge; heat and spin transport; Hot-carrier solar cell; Nonequilibrium thermodynamics; Fluctuations and noise; Shot noise; Mesoscopic thermoelectricity;

    Sammanfattning : In the last decades thermodynamics has seen a resurgence because of the interesting phenomena that happen in small-scale systems. Indeed, in nanoscale devices, quantum effects and fluctuations cannot generally be neglected and influence both the transport and their thermodynamic performance. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Heat control in mesoscopic conductors - exploiting quantum effects and size confinement

    Författare :Fatemeh Hajiloo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; heat currents; thermoelectric devices; nonequilibrium thermodynamics.; fluctuations; phase-dependent heat transport;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with a theoretical analysis of heat currents, their exploitation and their control in nanoscale devices. The motivation for this study is twofold. (i) The development of nanoscale devices sets up the basis of many applications ranging from nanoelectronics to quantum technology. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Equilibrium and Nonequilibrium Properties of Nonionic Surfactant Membranes

    Författare :Thao Le; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lamellar; multilamellar vesicle; small-angle x-ray scattering SAXS ; small-angle neutron scattering SANS ; static light scattering SLS ; joule heating temperature jump JHTJ ; dynamic light scattering DLS ; Nonionic surfactants; sponge; elastic curvature energy; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : An extensive investigation of the multilamellar vesicles (La*), lamellar (La), and multiply connected sponge (L3) phase formed in surfactant systems is presented in this thesis. These membrane structures were studied using surfactant systems containing poly(oxyethylene) alkyl ethers, n-CnH2n+1(OCH2CH2) mOH, commonly abbreviated as CnEm. LÄS MER
