  1. 21. Nucleon-Induced Fission Cross Sections of Heavy Nuclei in the Intermediate Energy Region

    Författare :Alexander Prokofiev; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Fission; cross section; n; f reaction; p; intermediate energy; database; nuclear reaction; neutron; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Fission is the most important nuclear reaction for society at large today due to its use in energy production. However, this has raised the problem of how to treat the long-lived radioactive waste from nuclear reactors. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Studies of Nuclear Matter under Extreme Conditions: Heavy-Ion Interactions at Ultra-Relativistic Energies

    Författare :Joakim Nystrand; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; heavy-ion interactions; quark-gluon plasma; nuclear emulsion; multi-step avalanche chambers; particle production; transverse momentum distributions; intensity interferometry; nucleus-nucleus collisions; rapidity distributions; Physics; Fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1996:Nystrand;

    Sammanfattning : The charged particle production in ultra-relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions in the energy range 4-200 A GeV has been studied. Two different experimental techniques have been utilized: nuclear emulsions and Multi-Step Avalanche Chambers. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Rigidity of the Doubly-Magic 100Sn Core

    Författare :Matej Lipoglavsek; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; in-beam gamma-ray spectrscopy; nuclear structure; fusion-evaporation reactions; nuclear shell model; quadrupole polarization charge; doubly-magic nucleus; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1998:Lipoglavšek;

    Sammanfattning : The doubly magic nucleus 100Sn represents a crucial test for the nuclear shell model, which is a widely used model for a quantitative description of nuclei. Excited states in 100Sn are experimentally not accessible with present day techniques, but it is possible to gain insight into its structure by studying the properties of excited states of neighboring nuclei. 4. 24. Development of New Monte Carlo Methods in Reactor Physics : Criticality, Non-Linear Steady-State and Burnup Problems

    Författare :Jan Dufek; Jan Wallenius; Waclaw Gudowski; Cheikh Diop; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Monte Carlo; reactor physics; fission source; inactive cycles; convergence; burnup; steady-state; criticality; eigenvalue; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The Monte Carlo method is, practically, the only approach capable of giving detail insight into complex neutron transport problems. In reactor physics, the method has been used mainly for determining the keff in criticality calculations. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, “Hydrodynamics of Binary Bose-Einstein Condensates and Hydro-elasticity of the Inner Crust of Neutron Stars”, the hydrodynamic effects, instabilities and superfluid turbulence in binary immiscible ultracold gases, and hydro-elastic macroscopic coupled modes and microscopic structure of the inner layers of the crust of neutron stars, are studied. The ultracold gas dynamics can be realized in the laboratory. LÄS MER
