  1. 1. Rotational Bands and Pairing Interaction in the Shell Model

    Författare :Andrius Juodagalvis; Matematisk fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; statistical physics; gravitation; relativity; Rotational bands; Shell model; Cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky; Pairing interaction; Backbending; Band termination; Proton-neutron pairing; Quadrupole electromagnetic moments and transition strengths; N=Z nuclei; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; quantum mechanics; classical mechanics; klassisk mekanik; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; thermodynamics; Fysicumarkivet A:2000:Juodagalvis; termodynamik; statistisk fysik; kvantmekanik; relativitet;

    Sammanfattning : One of the goals pursued in the present research was to understand the nuclear phenomena (such as rotational bands, their backbending and termination, deformation, pairing correlations, etc.) using different views provided by different nuclear models. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Three-body systems in the no-core shell model

    Författare :DANIEL SÄÄF; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; core swelling; halo nuclei; no-core shell model; nuclear physics; clusterization;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we present the ab initio no-core shell model (NCSM) and we use that framework to study 6He and 6Li computed with a realistic nucleon- nucleon interaction. In particular, we present results for the point-proton radius and the ground-state energy. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Rigidity of the Doubly-Magic 100Sn Core

    Författare :Matej Lipoglavsek; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; in-beam gamma-ray spectrscopy; nuclear structure; fusion-evaporation reactions; nuclear shell model; quadrupole polarization charge; doubly-magic nucleus; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1998:Lipoglavšek;

    Sammanfattning : The doubly magic nucleus 100Sn represents a crucial test for the nuclear shell model, which is a widely used model for a quantitative description of nuclei. Excited states in 100Sn are experimentally not accessible with present day techniques, but it is possible to gain insight into its structure by studying the properties of excited states of neighboring nuclei. 4. 4. The short, excited life of tellurium : Lifetime analysis of excited states in the Te midshell region

    Författare :Ebba Ahlgren Cederlöf; Ayse Nyberg; Torbjörn Bäck; Johan Nyberg; Matthias Weiszflog; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gamma spectroscopy; lifetime measurement; lifetime; shell model; RDDS; DDCM; nuclear physics; nuclear structure; gamma spektroskopi; livstidsmätningar; livstid; skalmodellen; RDDS; DDCM; kärnfysik; kärnstruktur; Atomic; Subatomic and Astrophysics; Atomär fysik; subatomär fysik och astrofysik;

    Sammanfattning : In this licentiate thesis, lifetimes of low lying excited states in the midshell region of tellurium isotopes are discussed. The nuclear lifetimes are interesting properties to study, since they are inversely proportional to the transition probabilities, which contain information on the underlying structure of the nucleus. 5. 5. Quantum-state Selective Nuclear Decay Spectroscopy

    Författare :Ch. Lorenz; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nuclear structure; alpha decay; beta decay; gamma rays; spectroscopy; Penning traps; shell-model calculations; Geant4 Monte Carlo Simulations;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focusses on the results of two experiments employing Penning traps to prepare pure beams of the 213Ra ground state and 127Cd, which were then studied with the decay-spectroscopy setup TASISpec. The experiments were conducted with SHIPTRAP at the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung in Darmstadt, Germany, and JYFLTRAP at the IGISOL Accelerator Facility at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.
