  1. 21. Assessment and management of patients at risk for persisting disability after mild traumatic brain injury

    Författare :Giedrė Matusevičienė; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : There is a lack of evidence-based interventions for patients with persisting problems after mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). The interventions needed should focus on patients at particular risk for persisting disability after mTBI and target modifiable factors. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Investigations of binocularity and reading performance in healthy subjects and patients with mild traumatic brain injury

    Författare :Jan Johansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: It is known that problems with binocular vision can cause issues for reading, less well known is to what extent binocular vision improves reading performance. A key aim for this project was to estimate the contribution of binocularity in reading in healthy subjects, and in patients with mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI). LÄS MER

  3. 23. Factors related to outcome in patients with traumatic brain injury : with special reference to analysis with machine learning methods

    Författare :David Nelson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Traumatic brain injury; Glasgow coma scale; Glasgow outcome scale; microdialysis; computed tomography; hematologic tests; machine learning;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of death in trauma. Neurointensive care (NICU) units have emerged to optimize treatments of the injured brain. The main objective is to identify and avoid conditions that lead to further insult and potential cell death. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Drug and disease effects on the human brain studied by functional MRI

    Författare :Love Engström Nordin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: With the advent of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology, various functional MRI (fMRI) techniques have become available for non-invasive neuroscientific studies and clinical diagnostics, which have led to a better understanding of the human brain function in normal and diseased subjects. In order to interpret the fMRI results correctly and design optimal research studies it is important to understand both the potentials and limitations associated with each fMRI technique. LÄS MER

  5. 25. The Neurological Wake-up Test in Neurocritical Care

    Författare :Karin Skoglund; Niklas Marklund; Per Enblad; Tiit Mathiesen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Intracranial pressure; Cerebral perfusion pressure; Propofol sedation; Wake-up test; stress hormones; intracerebral microdialysis; brain tissue oxygenation; jugular venous oxygenation; Neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery;

    Sammanfattning : The neurological wake-up test, NWT, is a clinical monitoring tool that can be used to evaluate the level of consciousness in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) during neurocritical care (NCC). Since patients with severe TBI or SAH are often treated with mechanical ventilation and sedation, the NWT requires that the continuous sedation is interrupted. LÄS MER
