31. Rotational Resonance in the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance of solids
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents new physical phenomena in the rotational resonance NMR of magic-angle spinning solids. The theory of a new class of nuclear spin echoes is developed. LÄS MER
32. Magnetic resonance studies in Alzheimer's disease
Sammanfattning : Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most common forms of neurodegenerative disorders connected with gradual loss of cognitive functions such as episodic memory. The disease is related to pathological amyloid depositions and hyper phosphorilation of structural proteins in the brain which lead to progressive loss of function, metabolic alterations and structural changes in the brain. 33. Internal rotation in molecules : a nuclear magnetic resonance relaxation study
Sammanfattning : In order to study the internal rotation of methyl-type groups in molecules, the carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spin-lattice relaxation times (T1) and nuclear Overhauser enhancement factors (n) are measured for some terpenes (borneol, camphor, isopinocampheol and α-pinene), for octafluorotoluene and for 1-methylnaphtalene. In addition, deuterium NMR T1 data are presented for 1-methylnaphtalene-d10. LÄS MER
34. Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Heart : Image quality, measurement accuracy and patient experience
Sammanfattning : Background: Non-invasive diagnostic imaging of atherosclerotic coronary artery disease (CAD) is frequently carried out with cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) or myocardial perfusion single photon emission computed tomography (MPS). CMR is the gold standard for the evaluation of scar after myocardial infarction and MPS the clinical gold standard for ischemia. LÄS MER
35. Magnetic Resonance Imaging as a Screening Tool for Prostate Cancer
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to explore the role of Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the prostate as an adjunct to the prostate-specific antigen (PSA)-test in screening for prostate cancer (PCa), focusing on the performance of MRI in detecting clinically significant PCa within the randomised controlled GÖTEBORG Prostate Cancer Screening 2 Trial. By inviting men 50–60 years of age to different screening strategies—PSA cut-off for biopsy 3. LÄS MER
