6. Coding, Modulation and Multiuser Decoding for DS-CDMA Systems
Sammanfattning : The general trend both in wireless and fixed network communication systems is flexibility in services, data rates, desired delay and performance. Future systems should not be designed for specific services but be more general and allow for a multitude of services, both now existing and those not yet invented. LÄS MER
7. Selective Epitaxy of Indium Phosphide and Heteroepitaxy of Indium Phosphide on Silicon for Monolithic Integration
Sammanfattning : A densely and monolithically integrated photonic chip on indium phosphide is greatly in need for data transmission but the present day’s level of integration in InP is very low. Silicon enjoys a unique position among all the semiconductors in its level of integration. LÄS MER
8. Sparse Codes on Graphs with Convolutional Code Constraints
Sammanfattning : Modern coding theory is based on the foundation of the sparse codes on graphs, such as the low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes, and the turbo-like codes (TCs) with component convolutional codes. The success of the LDPC codes and the TCs lies in their ability to perform low-complexity iterative message passing decoding procedures. LÄS MER
9. Spatially Coupled Turbo-Like Codes
Sammanfattning : The focus of this thesis is on proposing and analyzing a powerful class of codes on graphs---with trellis constraints---that can simultaneously approach capacity and achieve very low error floor. In particular, we propose the concept of spatial coupling for turbo-like code (SC-TC) ensembles and investigate the impact of coupling on the performance of these codes. LÄS MER
10. Computational Methods for Image-Based Spatial Transcriptomics
Sammanfattning : Why does cancer develop, spread, grow, and lead to mortality? To answer these questions, one must study the fundamental building blocks of all living organisms — cells. Like a well-calibrated manufacturing unit, cells follow precise instructions by gene expression to initiate the synthesis of proteins, the workforces that drive all living biochemical processes.
