21. p53 inactivation by point mutations and splice site mutations in human and mouse tumors
Sammanfattning : The p53 tumor suppressor gene is frequently mutated in human tumors. p53 induces cell cycle arrest and/or apoptosis in response to cellular stress, such as DNA damage, hypoxia and certain activated oncogenes like c-myc. The status of p53 in Burkitt's Iymphoma (BL) cell lines was investigated. The majority of BL lines expressed mutated p53 protein. LÄS MER
22. The role of the tumor suppressor gene, FBW7, and mechanisms of its inactivation in cancer
Sammanfattning : The F-box protein FBW7 is a tumor suppressor and SCF ubiquitin ligase targeting several key oncoproteins for proteasomal degradation. In this thesis we addressed whether the FBW7 gene is inactivated by mutations in various human tumor types and explored alternative mechanism(s) for the inactivation of FBW7. LÄS MER
23. Leukotriene A4 hydrolase : identification of amino acid residues involved in catalyses and substrate-mediated inactivation
Sammanfattning : Leukotriene (LT) A4 hydrolase catalyzes the committed step in the biosynthesis of LTB4, a classical chemoattractant and immuine-modulating lipid mediator involved in inflammation, host-defense against infections, and systemic, PAF-mediated, lethal shock. LTA4 hydrolase is a bifunctional zinc metalloenzyme with a chloride stimulated arginyl aminopeptidase activity. LÄS MER
24. Validation of mild cooking processes with target of Listeria monocytogenes inactivation to ensure food safety
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the use of Time Temperature Integrators (TTIs) to validate industrial cooking processes aimed to achieve a 6 logarithmic inactivation of Listeria monocytogenes, equal to a heat load of 2 min at 70 °C (P707.5 = 2) . To produce microbiological TTIs, live cells of L. monocytogenes were crossbound in alginate beads. LÄS MER
25. Molecular Analysis of Normal Human Skin and Basal Cell Carcinoma Using Microdissection Based Methods
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to gain further insight into the biology of normal human skin and basal cell carcinoma (BCC). Morphology in combination with microdissection was used as primary tool for sampling. LÄS MER
