11. Experimental combination therapy of brain cancer cell models
Sammanfattning : Epigenetic alterations and aberrant expression of genes controlling epigenetic mechanisms have been identified in several cancers, including medulloblastoma and glioma, the most common primary brain tumors in children and adults, respectively. We have been investigating if combination therapy using histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACi) and receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (RTKi) will enhance glioblastoma and medulloblastoma cell killing. 12. Notch Signaling in Neuroblastoma and Renal Cell Carcinoma
Sammanfattning : The Notch signaling pathway governs cell functions essential for normal development and organogenesis. Aberrant Notch signaling has been implicated in tumorigenesis by perturbing control of proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, migration and angiogenesis. LÄS MER
13. HCMV-induced epigenetic alterations : a novel pathway to CNS tumors?
Sammanfattning : Aberrant DNA hypermethylation at CpG islands is a well-established phenomenon involved in transcriptional silencing of tumor suppressor genes. CpG island hypomethylation-mediated reactivation of oncogenes is also documented in several cancer types. LÄS MER
14. From Single Gene to Whole Genome Studies of Human Transcription Regulation
Sammanfattning : Transcriptional regulation largely determines which proteins and the protein levels that are found in a cell, and this is crucial in development, differentiation and responses to environmental stimuli. The major effectors of transcriptional regulation are a group of proteins known as transcription factors, which importance is supported by their frequent involvement in mendelian and complex diseases. 15. Epigenetic mechanisms and regulatory aspects of human cancer and neural progenitor cells : implications for diagnosis and therapy
Sammanfattning : Epigenetic is defined as heritable modification or properties of the functional genome that are not directly embedded in the DNA sequence. Epigenetic changes include DNA methylation, histone modifications and RNA-mediated gene silencing. LÄS MER
