36. Estimation of Nonlinear Dynamic Systems : Theory and Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with estimation of states and parameters in nonlinear and non-Gaussian dynamic systems. Sequential Monte Carlo methods are mainly used to this end. These methods rely on models of the underlying system, motivating some developments of the model concept. LÄS MER
37. Channel Estimation and Self-Interference Suppression for MIMO Relaying Systems
Sammanfattning : Recently, the introduction of relaying nodes in wireless channels has been identified as a promising technique for providing broader coverage, higher transmission rates, and increased reliability. Moreover, when the concept of relaying systems is combined with that of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology, thesystem performance can be further improved by exploiting the spatial dimension. 38. On Receiver Algorithms for OFDM Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the problem of designing a receiver for an Orthogonal FrequencyDivisionMultiplexing (OFDM)communication system operating over fading channels, taking into account the effects of hardware imperfections. We discuss solutions for efficiently estimating the parameters of a channel model and for compensating oscillator phase noise and analog to digital converter (ADC) quantisation errors at the receiver. 39. Anchoring biases in estimations of age, weight and height
Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this thesis was to study the circumstances under which anchoring biases occur for estimation of age, weight and height. Paper I investigated accuracy and biases in age estimates made by salespersons with experience in age estimation, compared to a control group without any similar experience. LÄS MER
40. Fundamental Estimation and Detection Limits in Linear Non-Gaussian Systems
Sammanfattning : Many methods used for estimation and detection consider only the mean and variance of the involved noise instead of the full noise descriptions. One reason for this is that the mathematics is often considerably simplified this way. LÄS MER
