21. Involvement of lipid rafts in G protein-coupled monoamine receptor trafficking and signaling : a pharmacological approach
Sammanfattning : The present work focused on lipid raft-mediated modulation of signaling and trafficking of serotonin (5-HT) and dopamine receptors. The 5-HT system is one of the most complex neurotransmitter systems, with a wide distribution both in the CNS and in the periphery. LÄS MER
22. A PET study on dopamine and serotonin receptor binding in the primate brain : challenges with antipsychotic drugs and amphetamine
Sammanfattning : The brain imaging technique positron emission tomography (PET) has been applied to study dopamine and serotonin neurotransmission. In schizophrenia research, an important observation is that patients with schizophrenia, when compared with controls, have higher amphetamine induced dopamine release in the striatum. LÄS MER
23. The functional role of the lateral olivocochlear system and mechanisms underlying sound condtioning
Sammanfattning : Sound conditioning is a process induced by a low-level, non-damaging acoustic stimulus that provides protection against subsequent detrimental forms of acoustic trauma. Many hypotheses have been advanced to explain the effect of sound conditioning, but the mechanisms underlying this phenomenon are still not yet known. LÄS MER
24. Dopamine coordinates the effect of natriuretic and antinatriuretic factors
Sammanfattning : Living organisms are dependent on a precise regulation of water and sodium. The stability of the internal environment is maintained through a series of feedback mechanisms, in response to changes within the organism as well as to changes in the external environment. LÄS MER
25. Up-regulation of dopamine D₂ receptors : in vitro and in vivo studies
Sammanfattning : In the central nervous system (CNS) dopaminergic and dopaminoceptive neurons have the ability to respond to variations in dopamine levels by for example adjusting their dopamine receptor levels. One of the most well known phenomena in this respect is that long-term blockade of D2 receptors with antipsychotic drugs leads to an increase in striatal D2 receptor density of experimental animals as well as of schizophrenic patients as measured in both post-mortem studies and in vivo positron emission tomography studies of brain.
