  1. 26. Beam-to-Beam Contact and Its Application to Micromechanical Simulation of Fiber Networks

    Författare :Hamid Reza Motamedian; Artem Kulachenko; Umberto Perego; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fiber network; beam-to-beam contact; rotational contact; non-consistent; simulation; finite element; multiscale; microscale; micromechanics; paper; refining; beating; fine; hygroexpansion; shrinkage; drying; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis covers the topic of modeling the three-dimensional fiber net- works with the finite element method. It contains the part addressing the numerical aspects of the modeling, namely, the contact formulation and application of the developed methods to the fundamental questions such as the effect of randomness in fiber properties and effect of fines and hygroexpansion. 2. 27. Continuum modelling of particle flows in high shear granulation

    Författare :Per Abrahamsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; parameter study; High shear granulation; continuum modelling; resolution dependence; granular flow; compartment model; kinetic theory of granular flow;

    Sammanfattning : High shear granulation is an important process in the pharmaceutical industry. The aim of the process is to produce granules with specific properties, like size and hardness, from powder mixtures. The properties of the granules are determined by the flow field in the mixer. 3. 28. A Continuum Framework for Modeling the Excitation–Contraction Coupling of Smooth Muscle

    Författare :Babak Sharifimajd; Jonas Stålhand; Anders Klarbring; Markus Böl; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Excitation-contraction coupling of smooth muscle refers to a chain of coupled physiological processes which convert a stimulus to a mechanical response. These processes can be disassociated into ionic transport during cell membrane excitation, activation of myosin light chains, and muscle contraction caused by actin-myosin interaction (filament sliding). 4. 29. Mechanics of Nanocellulose Foams : Experimental and Numerical Studies

    Författare :Prashanth Srinivasa; Artem Kulachenko; Laurent Orgéas; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Nanofibrillär cellulosa (NFC) skum är en intressant klass av cellulära material med möjliga applikationer som sträcker sig från fordonsindustrin till biomedicin då det har unika och önskvärda mekaniska egenskaper. I ljuset av de senaste framstegen inom framställning av skum förutspås det tillämpas inom en rad olika områden, inklusive områden där dess mekaniska egenskaper är viktiga. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Fatigue of Asphalt Mixes - Theory of Viscoelasticity and Continuum Damage Mechanics Applied to Uniaxial Fatigue Data from Laboratory Tests

    Författare :Richard Nilsson; Trafik och väg; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; asphalt mixture; viscoelastic; Fatigue; deterioration models; Continuum Damage Mechanics; laboratory test; uniaxial; hydraulic engineering; Civil engineering; offshore technology; soil mechanics; Väg- och vattenbyggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The advance of analytic (mechanistic) design methods increases the need for fundamental material properties. Fatigue cracking due to traffic loading, in combination with permanent deformation (rutting), thermal cracking, irregularities, frost heave and reflective cracking are some of the major criteria used when designing an asphalt concrete pavement.
