6. Modelling of compaction of metal powder and damage accum ulation due to fatigue in powder materials
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses powder manufactured (P/M) components, with special attention to the compaction process and to the sensitivity to damage accumulation due to fatigue within powder compacted specimens. Three dimensional simulations of the compaction process have been performed, using an explicit dynamic dilatant finite strain finite element code supplemented with the effects from contact friction within the die, modelled by Coulomb friction. 7. Linear and Nonlinear Mechanics of Lattice Materials : Computational Modelling and Experiments
Sammanfattning : Lattice materials are artificial materials made of repeating unit-cells. The internal architecture of these materials can be engineered for a specific application such as energy absorption, heat transfer, or acoustic damping. LÄS MER
8. A Realizable Hybrid Mixture-Bubble Model for Cavitating Flows
Sammanfattning : Cavitating multi-phase flows include an extensive range of cavity structures with different length scales, from micro bubbles to large sheet cavities that may fully cover the surface of a device. To avoid high computational expenses, incompressible transport equation models are considered a practical option for simulation of large scale cavitating flows, normally with limited representation of the small scale vapour structures. 9. Realistic Package Opening Simulations : An Experimental Mechanics and Physics Based Approach
Sammanfattning : A finite element modeling strategy targeting package opening simulations is the final goal with this work. The developed simulation model will be used to proactively predict the opening compatibility early in the development process of a new opening device and/or a new packaging material. LÄS MER
