11. Scoping environmental pressure from material use for strategic environmental management : case of the Swedish National Rail Authority
Sammanfattning : This thesis aim is to develop an approach for scoping of environmental aspects regarding the material use in a large organisation in order to contribute to a strategic environmental management. The study object is the Swedish National Rail Authority. LÄS MER
12. Towards Optimization of Railway Turnouts
Sammanfattning : The turnout (Switch & Crossing) is a vital component in railway networks as it provides flexibility to traffic operation by allowing trains to switch between tracks. The flexibility comes at a cost as the common lack of a transition curve in the diverging route together with the variation and discontinuities in rail profiles result in higher rail degradation rates than in regular track. 13. Numerical simulation of crack propagation and wear in rails
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with rail deterioration due to Rolling Contact Fatigue (RCF) and wear. Focus lies primarily on numerical modelling and prediction, with the long-term objective of developing tools to be used for specifications and planning of rail maintenance. LÄS MER
14. Simulation of Dynamic Interaction between Train and Turnout
Sammanfattning : Dynamic train–track interaction is more complex in railway turnouts (switches & crossings) than on ordinary tangent or curved tracks. Multiple contacts between wheel and rail are common, and severe impact loads with broad frequency contents are induced when the nominal wheel–rail contact conditions are disturbed due to the continuous variation in rail profiles and the discontinuities in the crossing panel. 15. Railway track dynamic modelling
Sammanfattning : The railway vehicles are an increasing mean of transportation due to, its reduced impact on environment and high level of comfort provided. These reasons have contributed to settle a positive perception of railway traffic into the European society. LÄS MER
