  1. 1. On Sustainability of Biomass for Energy and the Governance Thereof

    Författare :Oskar Englund; Virginia Dale; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sustainability; land use; spatial modelling; biomass production; certification; environmental legislation; biomass resources; ecosystem services; Bioenergy; GIS; biodiversity; governance;

    Sammanfattning : Due to concerns about climate change, energy security, and resource scarcity, non- renewable resources are increasingly being displaced by biomass. As with most human activities, the production of biobased products can be associated with negative impacts. Primarily, this relates to the biomass supply systems, i.e. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Japanska rum – en diskussion kring tomhet och föränderlighet i traditionell och nutida japansk arkitektur

    Författare :Kristina Fridh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sukiya architecture; Kazuyo Sejima; conceptions of space; Waro Kishi; Japanese architecture;

    Sammanfattning : Traditional and contemporary Japanese architecture is examined, with focus on the characteristics of emptiness and changeability, the point of departure being Japanese conceptions of space which are interpreted and described from a Western perspective. According to Japanese cultural tradition space is conceived as a subjective perception, a physical experience and a changeable process. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Environmental Assessment and Strategic Technology Choice : The Case of Renewable Transport Fuels

    Författare :Karl Hillman; Björn Sandén; Ken Green; Göteborg Chalmers Tekniska Högskola Miljösystemanalys Institutionen för energi och miljö; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; environmental assessment; life cycle assessment LCA ; socio-technical change; strategic technology choice; renewable fuels;

    Sammanfattning : The scale of the required changes is huge, and time is limited if we are to avoid the most severe effects of climate change. To reduce greenhouse gas emissions from road transport, several fuels and electricity originating from renewable energy sources have been proposed, all of them in different stages of development and with various and shifting environmental impacts. 4. 4. A Virtual Design Studio for Low-Frequency Sound from Walking in Lightweight Buildings

    Författare :Nata Amiryarahmadi; Sweden Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lightweight floors; Walking sound; Low frequency; Annoyance; Virtual design studio;

    Sammanfattning : In recent years there has been a growing interest for building lightweight multistorey woodenresidential buildings in countries like Sweden with large and renewable forests. While positive aspectsof these buildings, such as sustainability, ease of construction and lightness, motivate building more inwood, poor acoustic performance is a risk which concerns the wooden-building industry. 5. 5. Towards Sustainable Bioenergy - Governance, Resource potentials and Trade-offs

    Författare :Oskar Englund; Evelyne Thiffault; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sustainability standards; trade-offs; Bioenergy; biodiversity; governance; biomass potentials; certification;

    Sammanfattning : The global energy system needs to be transformed from fossil dependent to renewable, to cope with the challenges of resource scarcity and climate change. Bioenergy can play an important role in this transformation, but land is scarce, and uncontrolled bioenergy expansion could have unacceptable consequences. LÄS MER
