21. Lean NOx reduction over silver-alumina from lab-scale to real conditions - Effects of reducing agent and catalyst composition
Sammanfattning : Lean NOx reduction over silver-alumina from lab-scale to real conditions Effects of reducing agent and catalyst compositionFREDRIK GUNNARSSONApplied surface chemistryDepartment of Chemical and Biological EngineeringChalmers University of TechnologyAbstractThe focus of this work is to increase the understanding of lean NOx reduction over silver-alumina catalysts using hydrocarbons as the reducing agent (HC-SCR), in particular by investigating the effect of silver loading, the role of platinum doping, and the effect of the type of reducing agent. In addition, the effects of aging and hydrothermal treatment on the catalytic activity and selectivity, and the influence of real engine exhausts were investigated, with special attention to the low-temperature activity. 22. Risk of spontaneous fires at temporary storages sites for organic material, waste fuels and recyclables: Quantification and mitigation
Sammanfattning : Economic and environmental constraints have created increasing demand for (material and energy recovery) and recycling of waste generated from households, commercial and industrial activities. A wide variety of materials waiting for sorting, recovery, recycling and disposal are stored at temporary storage sites (TSS) where physical, biotic and abiotic processes can lead the stored material to spontaneous ignition. 23. The Development of Bioethanol Markets under Sustainability Requirements
Sammanfattning : This thesis is a theoretical and empirical examination of the developmentof bioethanol markets since 2005 when sustainability regulations forbiofuels were introduced globally. The experiences of Brazil and Sweden, and the influence of European regulations on the development ofbioethanol markets receive special attention. LÄS MER
24. Life Cycle Assessment of Present and Future Marine Fuels
Sammanfattning : Interest in new fuels for marine propulsion is growing, mainly as a result of stricter environmental regulations but also due to increased attention to air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and the uncertainty of future oil supply. Several different fuels and exhaust abatement technologies are proposed for marine transportation, all of which have different advantages and disadvantages in relation to the environment and human health. 25. Analysis and engineering of central metabolism in Clostridium thermocellum
Sammanfattning : To mitigate climate change, greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced to net-zero in 2050 requiring a drastic transition in today´s energy sector. To achieve this goal, the use of biofuels produced from lignocellulosic feedstocks, including agricultural and forestry residues, is expected to play an important role. LÄS MER
